BUSY BUSY BUSY
It never slows down. We have taken on another colony! Oops. We got two girls from our Preston County Cat Crisis colony spayed Monday. We went to assess our new colony Tuesday.. the pictures I got one adult was VERY pregnant, kittens had bad URIs. Another group pulled 6 of the kittens and have started treatment, I told them I would manage the TNR part. So we went to assess and I heard some tiny neonate meows from a bush, surprise- the pregnant cat had her kittens yesterday morning. I had to leave them because we currently have no where to put them. The caregiver said he could touch a few of them and could place into a carrier so he tried that and caught one, I could feel through the carrier that she was pregnant. Unfortunately the carrier fell apart and she got out. We did catch another one in our trap though! Then we got a last minute spay appointment for our Preston County cats so we ran over there, so two girls got spayed today (Wednesday). Then tomorrow the last two cats will be returned, we found a rescue to take the last two older kittens at our new colony (Aarons Creek Colony) so we will be catching them and might be trying for the mom with the newborns if we can nail down a foster for them.... and now... pictures!

First pictures are of the newborns that I found in a bush and then their momma. They are beautiful, a couple of sweet calicos!

This guy is so sad. I just wanted to hug him. He has huge scarred over wounds on his head around his ears, and his poor eye! They told me "Don't worry about him, he's old" Poor dude.

Two of the tom cats, the sad looking guy and a handsome big cheeked guy!

Couldn't get a good one of this tortie's face!

I am pretty sure the one on the left is the one we just TNR'd and this picture was moments before we caught her. The other is the momma to the newborns.

Wow, you have been busy! Wish I was there to help you, I have room for the mamma and her new borns!

(I should be careful what I say, last time I said I wish I had some kittens someone brought a litter of orphans to my doorstep.) ;)

That poor battered old boy! What happened to his eye? It looks like he's had a serious head injury at some point.

Sending you more happy trapping vibes.

Maybe I'm just in a weepy mood, but your post made me cry. Especially the picture of the poor old guy. It breaks my heart thinking about everything those homeless cats have to go through. But then it makes me cry happy tears knowing there's people like you out there doing so much to make things better for them. Thanks for all you do. :petcat:

If you are, then so am I, rubysmama rubysmama ! That poor guy, and "don't worry about him, he's old??? As if an old cat is less worthy of our care! And don't you just know someone would fall in love with that sweet, battered face? Goodness knows, I have!

We went back to our Aarons Creek Colony with our TNR partners. We were trying to get the older sick kittens but we were having a bit of an issue with cooperation of the caregiver. He kept saying "He knew the cats and could catch them by hand" and he kept moving my traps and wouldn't walk away from them. it was a mess. We ended up catching momma of the newborns so we moved them off of the cold wet dirt and we have them in a temporary foster home for now- Yay! I left a trap and carrier for the caregiver and told him to call me when he caught the older kittens... we do have a rescue who will take them. Woo! Two events coming up over the next two weekends so we are going to be BUSY. Both are fundraising events/ will also bring material for educating TNR and also kitties for adoption of course! I just love getting our name out there! More people are starting to hear about us and learning about our feral cat work which is awesome!

Always busy! We caught 6 Preston County cats for our spay trip this Monday! The lady told me before we got there she thought there were only two left that needed done, I laughed so hard. I told her there are definitely more than that! We caught 6! There are definitely at least 3 more that need altered. We took them back today... We caught 6 here and one feral at another location. Of the 7, 2 were males and the rest were pregnant! Woo! We caught them all right in the nick of time!

The big brown and white tom is the one who had GIANT balls. Not anymore. he is a sweetie who let me rub his cheeks (swoon!). One of the tuxies is one we saw him mating with a couple of weeks ago.

Lastly here is one of the ear tipped girls we had altered from here a couple of weeks ago. I love seeing more and more ear tips at colonies!
Now that this location is semi under control we are going to focus our efforts at our new Aarons Creek Colony that we just took over and TNRd one female and got a mom and her 6 beautiful newborns!

The brown and white cat in the first set of pictures? That's our sweet big tom cat! Lots of scars from fighting and then of course an ear tip from his neuter! No more fights for this guy!
