My cat Wilbur had a series of blockages back in March that resulted in him needing a PU surgery, which he got unfortunately on April 8th we brought him to the vet for the 3rd time in a month due to inappropriate peeing, and he was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney failure. On April 9th his pees seemed smaller than the day before, and we learned he had scarring from the PU surgery and was blocked again from the scar tissue, this blockage had caused structural damage to his kidneys, and they guessed the blockage pushed him into stage 3 or 4 of kidney failure, he would have needed to be catheterized for a week to try to stabilize him, and then he would need another surgery with less than a 20% success rate, that also had to be done at a separate veterinary clinic 7 hours away. The vet told us due to his kidney failure it's likely he would only have a couple weeks after the surgery but it was more likely he wouldn't make it through the surgery or that the surgery would fail as anesthesia is hard on the kidneys. I decided it wasn't fair to put him through that as no cat likes being hospitalized for minimum 2 weeks, to get a maximum of an extra month where you're in late stage kidney failure just didn't seem fair. He was put down that day April 9th he went out in my lap and snoring after getting to eat almost half of his box of treats when a box usually lasted a couple months. He always enjoyed looking out the window playing with his toys, screaming for wet food and invading my space. He is missed greatly.

I am so sorry for your loss of Wilbur, he seemed like a sweetheart and the love that you had for him was obvious. It is always so so hard to make those decisions and "play God" but you had a lot going against you in this situation, but he is fine now just fine, and you will see him again someday and it will be wonderful.

I am sorry for your loss, I hope that your heart heals a bit more each day, God Bless.....:alright: :grouphug2: :rbheart:

My heart cries for your pain. Your beautiful boy is beyond that now, the time that passes before he is reunited with his beloved human will pass for him in the blink of an eye. We, here, that are left behind, have the time go much more slowly. There will not be a day that goes by that you don't think of him, miss him, and comfort yourself with all of your precious memories. Time is the only thing that dulls the sharp edges of grief. Time will bring about the realization that your sweet boy would never want you to be so sad because of his leaving. That he loves you so much and only wants for you to go forward and fill your life with joy and happiness. To allow him to live on through you because you will always have a part of him in your soul. Just as you would want for him if you were the first to go. The bond of love you have with him, that developed link by link over all those years, can never be broken, can never be taken from you. "Death cannot take that which never dies", because love is spiritual, not bound by the earthly bonds of life. He shared your life's journey here on earth for a little while, and though he now follows a new path, it will forever parallel your own. He thanks you for giving him his beautiful home, for loving him, for all those treats and belly rubs. That, and your love, made his life whole, was everything he wanted from life. And when the time came, when the future held nothing but suffering and more pain, you found the strength through your love to release him, to end all that suffering, and you did so in the name of love.
My heart goes out to you. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for telling his story, for letting his legacy of love live on through the telling. Now he will be mourned by many, for we are legion in our shared love of all the countless who have gone on before him. And in this way he becomes immortal.....RIP dear Wilbur. You will be forever missed, you will be held securely in a loving heart for eternity. May the good Lord bless and keep you, until you meet again!

He was so handsome. I am sorry for your loss. I wish I could have given Winnie treats before it was her time. Unfortunately she did not want to eat, not even tuna.

Rest you gentle, Wilbur, dream you deep. You walk in someone's heart forever.

This is what I know, to the depths of my being, that love never dies. It simply changes form and continues on, still Love. And Love abides. Always and forever, Love abides. Although you will desperately miss his physical presence, Wilbur's Love is with you still, now and forever.

It is difficult to loose a friend like Wilbur...more so when you have to be the person that makes the tough decision to let them go. I hate that you lost him but know this, you made the right decision.

I will never understand how loosing something so small can hurt so much, but I can assure you it does! I just got to experience this myself on 1-16-19 when our 11 year old Siamese "Toby" suddenly passed. I've not felt such loss in years.

Know that Wilbur is at peace and resting easy. I hope that you can eventually do the same.

Im sorry Wilbur has passed, he looks like the most loving little boy and reminds me so much of Leo who passed away on 3rd January 2019 he is in my profile pic. I was reading this post on my phone at work and i had to control myself not to cry cause i was in your shoes 2 times this year, in January and then 3 and a half weeks ago where i had to make the same on the spot decision to end my and Leo and MC life. It is still hard and i feel your pain, and i know your little Wilbur is with you in spirit around you and watching over you until you meet with him in the end. Wilbur loves you as you love him and you can see that clearly in the photos without a doubt the bond that you both share. He is in heaven in gods arms with the angels who are keeping him safe, free from pain and suffering and is loved, in a place were peace is eternity. Your heart is broken but it will slowly heal. It is the most hardest decision to make to end any living beings life, even knowing if you keep them alive longer or have another operation wont do much and it will end up in the same situation, the feeling of hopelessness is there , but its the act of unselfishness and your ability to be strong enough in that moment for Wilbur, to let Wilbur go, to end his suffering is the kindest thing a human can do for their friend. May god bless Wilbur and your heart. :(

I'm so sorry. The change is only one of form, the love between you remains as strong as the day it was born. now that he is grateful for the great gift you gave him, that you freed him from the pain. Know that he holds your heart gently as you heal from the change. Know that he whispers that he is well, he has found old friends, that they follow you wherever you go, and that he still sleeps at your side.

Rosepud Rosepud , I'm so sorry for the loss of your handsome Wilbur.

As other have said, and better than me, your bond will be eternal, even beyond the limits of life and he will never forget your love.

RIP Wilbur, you will never feel sick again, and your family will never ever forget you!
