Has he had a urinalysis done recently? I've learned on here that sticky pee can be a sign of diabetes. I don't have any personal experience with that.

How much litter are you putting in the box? If there's not enough litter, you wind up with sticky, slimy sludge.

How do you know it's sticky? How fresh is it when you see it's sticky?

Dried pee just naturally gets sticky but if it's sticky when it's fresh you should have him in for a urinalysis.

The other symptom I've heard mentioned often is always being thirsty & drinking lots of water. That's true in humans too.

Diabetic cat urine also smells sugary. The large amount of sugar also makes the clumps sticky and hard to scoop, especially if the cat tends to pee along the side of the box or there isn't enough litter in the box to absorb all that urine.
