Cat’s new set up. The crate door is always open, day and night, and I’m happy to report our Northern Inuit dog is getting along with them and wants to be friends. It will take some time for the feeling to be mutual. Lol!

Whisper threw up some round worms on Monday. I was horrified. Called the vet who said they are booked up till July. But recommend an over the counter remedy. It was too expensive, so I researched something less expensive and gave it to her in her food. She does not like the taste or smell, but I learned to cover it with more food. She has pooed twice with dead worms that I could see. A good sign. But I have to keep up with the medication for 4 months. Using Hartz for round worms, oral meds. Says I can also give to kittens 6-8 weeks but I haven’t yet. One eats solid food, but not the other two yet. It also says 1 tsp per every 5 pounds. My scale doesn’t pick up even the mother’s weight. I guessed 8 pounds and gave her one. But the kittens…what is a safe amount for a 7 week old?

Hartz cat de-wormer is piperazine, which isn't the most effective. Pyrantel is better but unfortunately isn't available OTC labeled for cats in the US. What product did your vet recommend?

You can buy a big bottle of generic pyrantel pamoate suspension from a horse supply catalog, or sometimes from a human pharmacy (hookworm meds); it's the same stuff vets use for cats. Some vets will help you with dosing instructions, or you could google for it. . .we can't give dosing instructions here. But a lot of people do use it, it's safe and effective.

I administered a dose of the roundworm medicine to the kitten who eats dry cat food, but the other two want nothing to do with it. How do I give it to them?

Mixing it in a food which overcomes the smell of the meds will often work for any type, powder, liquid, or pills.

How Can I Give A Pill To My Cat – TheCatSite Articles

First article has some alternative mediums to disguise the meds. Second article describes a method. Not guaranteeing that it will be easy.
Sorry, I should have been more specific. The other two are not eating dry cat food yet. Or wet. Still nursing on mom.

Ok so I did a little research. They all show dosing syringes. So then I asked myself…Can I buy one of those? Turns out out I can! At my local grocery store! Picking one up tomorrow.

I’m worried I won’t be able to financially support my new fur babies. I’m thinking about giving at least one up for adoption. Then maybe another. I’m contacting a shelter to see if they can help. But I want to see if it’s a no kill shelter. I’m also willing to just keep her here until a pet parent can be found.
I was going to reach out to petfinder, but they got bad reviews.

We’ve also been made to move to the basement by my aunt. Her and her daughter and 3 children have come in and are looking for a home. We’ve been managing, but it’s hard. Anyways, I hope it explains the latest picture.

“kittens To Good Homes” – How To Find A Good Forever Home For Your Kittens – TheCatSite Articles
Adopting the Cat into the Best Home Possible

Those kittens are adorable and I am sorry about your recent problem with your aunt. There is nothing wrong with finding good homes and the article helps with some questions.

Don't do free to a good home as it will attract some people who might want the kittens for bait animals or research. If it is your best friend who wants a kitten, that is different, but not strangers.

As for some compensation for their care. $50 is usually enough to discourage those who want them for questionable reasons. You certainly could ask for more. As I recall, you have wormed them, among other things. Advertise them as litter box trained, socialized, wormed, vaccinated? etc. No one has to know that most kittens litter box train themselves.

If you have the Nextdoor app, nextdoor.com, you can connect with local people who might want a kitten or be able to help.

We’ve moved back upstairs! I’m scheduled to have them spayed and neutered August 30th through a humane society that’s going to do it for free! Yay!
Born April 10, the male kitten tries to mount the in heat momma cat. I separate them when I see it, but can he get her pregnant at such a young age?

Doubtful, but anything is possible and I wouldn’t take chances in the next 6 weeks.
