When should I spay the mother cat after she has had a litter? (Hope this is the right forum to post on...sorry if it isn't--I'm new.) How soon after she has the kitties can I let her outside? She's an indoor/outdoor kitty and loves to be outside. Thanks for your help!

Diane,

You should wait until the babies have been weened before spaying her. DO NOT let her out until after she is spayed or she WILL get pregnant again. A nursing cat can become pregnant (contrary to popular belief).

I also moved this thread to the health and nutrition forum, I hope that's okay.
The moderators of this forum are much more knowledgable about these kinds of questions than am I.

Yes, you can spay her when the kittens are about 10 to 12 weeks, by this time they have had enough time with mom and mom should be pushing them away. Make sure and keep her in the house for a few weeks while she recovers from the surgery.
