I no longer work in the back because my shaky hands punch in 11 items to backstock instead of one. Or items are bought before i take items on the floor so there is not enough for the person that ordered. Anything on clearance we are never supposed to hold or Blackstock. I don't know if rules are the same in California. I assume so because the district is in Minnesota.
i read about this jump in egg prices months ago while reading about all these chicken farms having to kill off entire flocks after having chickens test positive for avian flu the egg shortages are just now hitting my area i assume

Speaking of food poisoning,lol

My friends insisted I try those liquid eggs - whole foods donated to my church.... I saw they were well before the expiration date and the containers were cold, they came straight from Whole Foods only 15 minutes away..... best omelette I ever had, they were really fantastic....no one told me you need to use them quickly.... 3 days later made another yummy omelettee and got food poisoning *(salmonella )
That's why, when we were on a deployment, we got powdered eggs, because there wasn't sufficient cold storage room aboard to preserve real eggs. Powdered eggs, powdered potatoes, powdered milk; anything to save space and weight. It's not recommended for those with delicate taste buds or stomachs, however. And to think, not all that long ago a dozen large eggs were less than $2 at ALDI.

I don't drink milk so I never buy it,unless I'm making something that requires milk and I happen to be in a store so I do use powered milk usually- I see no difference for cooking and people rave about my mashed potatoes or sausage gravy etc ( they have no idea it's dry milk)

I've never tried powdered eggs, you say they don't taste good?

I bought a dozen eggs in Publix this week, prices have not changed so far- still $198,$239 & $289 for SML

Last week I was in Winn Dixie & they were even less- do you think it will increase here as well anytime soon?

I've been thinking for a long time about how fast time goes by and how important it is not to miss opportunities in life. So now I've decided to spend more time on my health, both my own and my cat's.
Welcome to TCS
Nice to meet you- time does go by very quickly, live each day like it's your last- make it count, especially with the ones you love:catrub:

Ours best price for eggs are 4.49 for dozen large white and 4.79 for organic large brown. Many other stores are $ 2- $ 3 dollars more.

It's not that they don't taste good; it's just that they don't taste......like much of anything. They are yellow, but bland.

M is officially in screaming tantrum phase. I'm working on being strong and not giving in (this time because she didn't like what was offered for lunch).

We've let the girls get in a bad habit of over snacking, and then they aren't hungry at mealtimes. M hadn't eaten since breakfast so I know she's hungry, but she's refusing. J only ate half her lunch and is going to be asking for snacks soon, but I told her no snacks until after M's nap, and then only one.

It's going to be a rough few days.

Oh my- my Mom made me eat things to the point I vowed never to force my own to eat what he didn't like(only one time he screamed about something & trust me it was the last time, lol)

But I never gave choices or insisted either,it was very simple- then don't eat,by the next meal he was good n hungry enough to eat what was in front of him.... funny,by that time my mother was a different person" awww,Grandma will make whatever you want " - she said,"oh you learn how unimportant those things are- just make the kid something else"..... it's just a stage, hang in there, this too will pass( nerve wracking in the process though ,isn't it?)

 8 dollars for a dozen large eggs checked in target out of curiosity while buying anew crock pot and no eggs to be found picked up a carton of liquid eggs though just to add with the dozen we bough at the market during the day
Bird flu is affecting supply now. I went to the store early Saturday morning and they were out or very low on some things but I think here it is about the recent winter storm. Eggs are running $4.50 to $5.00 a dozen now. There is a shortage of orange juice and oranges are sky high. That is going to be here for a while because of a disease that is going through orange trees. They are working on disease resistant trees but even after they develop resistant trees it will be quite some time before they get them out to producers and the trees are large enough to begin producing.

When I was little Mom had made a quick dinner of sandwiches and potato chips. I decided I wanted more chips not more of a portion of the sandwich in front of me. Mom said if you eat a little more sandwich you can have a couple more chips. I said I was leaving and going to my grandparents. My parents looked at each other and said OK. So I go to my room and get out my little suitcase and out the door and down the driveway I went. I got to the bottom of the driveway and my mom called my name. I turn around and they are both in the doorway and my mom says : Remember you can't cross the street alone.( My grandparents lived close by but you had to cross a busy street to get there) So back up the driveway I went, back into my room emptied my suitcase, put my suitcase away. I went out to the kitchen where my parents were at the table ate a little more sandwich and got a couple more chips and all was right with the world. Now I dislike potato chips ( go figure) My parents never put too much food on my plate, they could always read each others minds and were always on the same page. My first and last time ' running away from home' They were and still are in my mind the best parents I could have had. Wish they were still here.

So adorable- My Mom told be a story of when I left home( must've been maybe 3? 4? Remember my Mom packed me a little suitcase becayse she said I needed warm clothes for when it will be freezing at night,a flashlight becayse it will be very dark and food so I don't starve( lol) ...

Oh when that door closed behind me my Mom said her heart was in her feet as she watched through the window but just as I got halfway towards the curb I stopped & turned around- I didn't know how to cross a street either & got scared

She said I sat on the front steps, took out my little blanket and layed my head down,crying...... she couldn't stand another minute but opened the door and asked " who are you?" .... I Saud its me Mommy,,it's me.....rofl,and she rescued me from what I remember the harsh wilderness of the front steps !

I don't force things they really don't like once they've tried them of if they're super averse because we all have our own things, but in this case it was a meal she'd eaten and liked before - she just decided she wasn't having it today. She did end up eating a lot more dinner.

When you're pregnant they warn you about sleepless nights and poop explosions and all kinds of things, but no one ever warns you that one of the most annoying things about parenting is figuring out what to feed your kids multiple times a day 24/7/365. Because no, you can't subsist completely on macaroni and cheese and candy.

That's so true,not an
instruction booklet or even a pamphlet of everyday" stuff" that is truly difficult....they have 365 Inspirational booklets- why not a 365 meal tips from birth up to school age perhaps... a " Keeping it Interesting & Healthy " type thing.... it's hard enough to feed adults everyday of the year, let alone toddlers

You might have something there worth publishing Lari Lari

I have to wonder though,do we just have far too many choices these days? Sometimes I stand there gobsmacked in the super market aisles- when I was a kid there were 3 different boxes on cereal on the shelf, now an entire aisle is designated to " breakfast" one side has 3 tiers of cereal boxes for almost the entire length! Baby food was one little shelf of Gerber foods with everything you needed

Kind of like my clowder, prior to this group of cats I fed Eukanuba, they ate no problems ,it's all they knew( food-=eat) Now I started with wet food and varieties and I've created a bunch of finicky fussy eaters

I sympathize with your frustration ,it is annoying for sure

Indeed. There were a lot of books on these subjects when I had my two kids. They often had conflicting advice. You are always left on just figuring things out as you go along. My parents always said I was a easy kid to raise but having my own gave me a greater appreciation for them. Lari Lari I am sure those of us who have been there feel your frustration.

I feel like social media makes things hard for US! So many people can look like credible sources but they actually don’t know what they are talking about. It makes me sympathetic for our kids with their little developing brains! Trying to figure out decision making and so illogical. 🤪 My kids definitely tried the “I liked this befitting but not now thing.” :rolleyes2:
