Bought myself a typical black suitcase, the kind that everybody else has. I’m trying to think what tiny distinguishing doodad to attach to it so I can find it in a carousel.

On my key chain is a stuffed animal so they are much easier to find. Got it at walgreens

I have Dish TV, that has the Hallmark movie subscription . I can easily also access Starz,Encore,TBS plus many more. I've had this service for about 10 years. A TV antenna doesn't work in a hilly such as mine.

Yes,South Florida there's maybe 1channel you can get with an antenna that's not Spanish,then there's 4 news stations- so not my interest..... and you need the switch from VHF to UHF also.....

I'm thrilled,for 15 bucks a month I have all I need (& want)..... like @mamany I don't go out so love my movies!I got Paramount Plus and Peacock too as a bonus,I'll sure Ill keep Peacock for sure after the year because it has the Bravo shows I get a kick out of

I made apple crisp with some of the apples we picked last weekend.

My children both ate their ice cream and eschewed the crisp. M was even nice enough to throw all her apples on the floor.

Motherhood is so fulfilling sometimes.

So; Michele's check finally showed up. The one that was supposed to show up the first of the month. The one that was voided out already, after she called them. They had told her to shred it, so she did, after contacting them again to make sure. She told me that it takes 5 to 7 business days to process a new check, to which I said that they might as well send the October check along with it and save the postage. It's a good thing that we aren't in dire need of that money, but still.........

I think Gracie has PTSD. We had an electrical fire this morning when the power finally came back on after being out overnight.

I heard the power come back on and then the loud sound of electricity arching somewhere in the house. Went into the living room and realized it was downstairs. By the time I got there, my husband had pulled the plug on the 1970's electric fireplace. It was plugged in but wasn't on at the time. He said the whole room was filled with orange sparks.

When I got down there, I could see the carpet by the fireplace was smoldering but went out. Smoke was everywhere too so we opened the sliding glass door and put a fan to direct the smoke outside. Carpet was charred pretty bad in one spot.

Then I went looking for the cats to make sure they were ok because our house is not chaotic like that. Found Boone in his safe spot under my bedsheets. Gracie was hiding under my oldest's bed. They eventually came out after about 3 hours. But Gracie was acting weird.

She sat on the far end of the living room looking in the direction of the basement door. She then cautiously walked over and peered downstairs. Did that several times like she was terrified of something down there. It hit me that maybe she was downstairs when the fire happened and saw all the sparks shooting everywhere and she ran upstairs. She stays in one of two places down there. Either the bedroom which means she had to run past the sparks. Or on the couch which is across from the fireplace.

Eventually I did see her go downstairs and I guess check things out. She is acting more normal now which is good because locked downstairs is where she stays while I am at work. I was worried that if she thought it was dangerous down there, she'd be terrified to be locked down there. I am hoping that during the rest of today, she sees that everything is ok and she will be safe.

Wow. Glad everything is okay. Electrical fires can be so dangerous. Gracie will recover but no guesses on how long it takes her. I would not shut her in the basement until she is going down there voluntarily on her own.

Man that apple crisp looks GOOD! DS can't eat apples so sometimes I will make a small pear-crisp for him when I make apple for us. I really need to find time to bake!

Thanks! I think it turned out pretty good. It said to cook for 45 to 60 minutes and the apples seemed soft at 45, so I took it out then because I didn't want it to burn, but if I did it again I'd have given it 5 more minutes for the top to get a bit crispier.

I also made an apple charcuterie board for a stroller strides kiddie clothes swap yesterday. Apple slices with caramel dip (store-bought) and then little containers with sprinkles, mixed nuts, toffee bits, mini marshmallows, and mini chocolate chips. It's totally the way to do caramel apples!

I brought the extras home and dipped a slice in caramel and sprinkles for both girls, and they just ate the toppings and not the apple.

Was the cause of the fire the fireplace for sure? How terrifying this ordeal must've been for all the cats ,you & your husband,especially Gracie......are you confident Gracie is safe down there now ,Electrical fires are so frightening - thank God you are all alright!

I'm sure the smell of the burnt carpet and smoke is also alarming to the cats- poor girl,so glad she was not locked down there when it happened

Can you lock her in another room when you go to work until she's comfortable with staying downstairs again?How's the smell now? I'm thinking you are keeping her separated from Boone while you are at work,is thst right? You worry about them together unsupervised as I recall ,yes?

I told her that it was probably mailed out on a Friday afternoon, late, and the staff was in a hurry to finish up and go home. Ya gotta love it.

That's a relief!! For some reason I've had 2 cards come from my aunt that were mangled by the postal service machinery. I get mail from other relatives who live in nearby towns to her; but they never come in a "oops we're sorry" envelope from USPS.

I subscribe to several magazines, and not a year goes by that at least one issue arrives with the cover and some of the pages torn and sloppily taped up. And we are paying how much for first class postage?

Ho hum. Got cats on the brain. I want another cat, eventually but currently, I'm waiting for my two older parrots to croak (could be tomorrow. Could be 5 years from now) and then there's the question of when the dog will pass, presumably in 5-7 years. So I've decided to research and consider cat breeds ... hopefully from rescue. If not, a breeder this time. I have a looooong time to decide and until then, I'm happy with Puddles.

Someone, please send somebody to eat this hamster-on-the-wheel in my brain.
