She was Debbie Reynold's daughter. And Eddie Fisher's, for that matter. She died on a plane from London to LA in 2016 of cardiac arrest.
Now that you mentioned the year I do remember because I " think" her Mom died shortly after,I remember reading or hearing speculation her daughters passing was the reason she suffered a stroke..is memory serving ?

My Mom was a celebrity enthusiast- she followed all that sort of news and I think Carrie Fisher wrote a biography, thsts the only reason I'd know who's daughter she was,my Mom

The" recently added" movies on my " On Demand" line up is paying tribute to James Earl Jones, featuring all his movies( voice roles too) - such a great talent,he contributed much to the world besides being a legendary actor- rip Mr Jones

Happily all I have on my mind is finishing my jumper! And finding out what Daisy wants ... scritches, it seems. Which could delay the knitting ... :catrub:

My summer off from Doctors is almost over- ahhh, was a nice & needed break .Tomorrow an appt with palliative Doc but then I still have the rest of September to have peace!

October the fun begins with CT and I don't dare turn the calender page now,I don't want to see the appts marked down, yuk!

So I'm not looking forward to driving downtown in rush hour traffic ,looking for parking space, having to walk the stupid walkway thst circles the hospital bldg to get to the entrance and then the ride home..... ohhhh well,at least thst location is only once a month, all the other weekly ones are not even half a mile from my home

Yes, she died of a stroke the day after Carrie. Her son Todd said that he believed from what she had said that she did not want Carrie to be alone.

The postal service strikes again! Michele usually gets her pension check right around the first of the month or, in a few instances, even a day or two before. Well; here it is almost the middle of the month, and no check yet. I told her to contact the issuer and find out what was going on, and yesterday she did. It turns out that yes, her check had been sent at the proper time, but it seems to have vanished, but they have no record of it being cashed. Now they have voided the first one and are issuing a new one. I know, I know; direct deposit and all that, but we're old school, and cash is king. If it doesn't get lost in the mail.

We have had issues with postal delivery here as well N NY cat man . I delivered mail down the street that was not ours and the woman says to me that's kind of you, if I get mail that doesn't belong to me I just throw it out! I don't even think that's legal. So Michelle's check is probably in the trash or sitting on someone's table. For that reason alone I will do direct deposit and in some cases you are required to do so. I always check to make sure it is in my account.I also have a informed delivery account with the postal service to see what is coming in the mail.

The irony is a check coming FROM USPS gets lost in the mail- sheesh, :gaah:

I have informed delivery and direct deposit although I understand that everyone has to make their own decisions about this. Years ago I did not get a paycheck and it turned out that my employer had a policy of needing to trace and retrieve the missing check before they could issue another one which was a delay of three weeks.

Oh Jeez Kwik Kwik hope your appointment goes well. Don't you just hate the doctor to doctor, test to test thing? But then what is the alternative I guess.

We both get direct deposit of our Social Security, but the checks from our retirement funds that we set up long ago- we each get two a month- represent our pocket money. In fact, I have yet to spend even a dime of my Soc. Sec. in the years since I fully retired on myself. It only goes toward household expenses. Which is why I set up my first IRA in 1977- so I wouldn't have to depend on Soc. Sec. So far, so good.

There's nothing quite like a check in your hands. HOWEVER, since I can no longer drive, cashing that check would cost me almost $25 in cab fees to and from the bank, with either another few bucks for having them wait, OR having to wait an unknown time for a call-back to the cab company. My health and those cab fares also mean that 90% of my shopping must be online, as well. AND, with direct deposit, I get the funds a day ahead of the scheduled dates. It is the only workable solution for me. I'm tickled that you have options! Options are GOOD!
