We had a situation last night. A mishap. I was doing laundry with both machines going. DS heard something fall. Somehow the big jug of laundry detergent (that was probably 1/3 full still) with the built in dispenser fell off and got wedged upside down between the 2 machines and just…flooded the laundry room. 😩

I cleaned up as much as I could but when DH came in he spent a good 45 minutes with me moving the machines and wiped everything. (The last time I moved the washer the drain hose popped off and water was the last thing we needed in there!!) Then about an hour later; just after 10pm, a water sensor in our crawl space started going off. 😩😩😩 Yep… soap dripping through the wall and plumbing/dryer vent… 😩

From now on I’m reclosing the vent lid on the laundry detergent!! :frustrated::disappointed:

Thankfully DH isn’t the cussing or getting mad type. We just deal with it; but still what a mess!

I managed to save a little that was still pouring out. But I definitely laughed so I wouldn't cry! It's not like you can just wet mop it up ya know?

And hey I'd already bought a new jug yesterday because there was a Walmart cash offer on it. I think the puppy pads I keep under and in front of the litter boxes helped keep it from coming more forward. I think we went through a roll of paper towels... But the room has almost never been cleaner. Maybe when it was brand new and then that time I flooded it a little from the washer hose popping off... :rolleyes2:

Seriously... I am so grateful my husband doesn't have a temper.

I need to do a load of towels but maybe I should watch closely to be sure the machines don't go sliding around. We did wipe the feet; but our washer spins so hard it shakes stuff on the walls around it... :rolleyes2:

You're better off laughing- crying helps nothing and thank God you have a wonderful hubby to help and not get all crazy❤

Lately I've been buying the detergent sheets they've begun selling in the grocery stores in my area. They take less storage space, don't do a number on my back when I'm getting them into the house, and if they spill they're really easy to clean up. My biggest concern is making sure I don't get a brand I'm allergic to, but that's just a matter of buying a brand I know is okay when it comes in jugs. And they're perforated so it's easy to tear one in half for a small load.

DH looked into some at one point but I don’t think his work clothes were getting as clean. (He washes those himself.) Of course it could also be the ones he chose and how dirty his things are. He tends to go for things advertised as natural and more often than not; we are disappointed. His work stuff isn’t like construction work dirty; but its far from office attire too. Especially in summer. (Mooch rolls in his dirty pile and looks catnip high any chance she gets. :barfgreen:) Both kids need the All Free & Clear. Chatting with the allergist last winter; that’s about it in his opinion. My MIL did find powdered detergent did better on her skin though so who knows. I could have used a more portable detergent when i was hauling laundry to my mothers for 3 months a few years ago! :rolleyes2:

I'm allergic to All Free & Clear. Yep, supposed to be allergen free, but isn't, and it took me months to figure out what was making me itch so much. When I'm buying bottled detergent I get Arm & Hammer Free & Clear, and if something is stained or especially dirty I add powdered OxiClean Free, regardless of which detergent I'm using. In a pinch I'll use the OxiClean for pre-soaking.

Yes, detergent sheets are especially useful when you have to do laundry someplace other than home.

I am allergic to Arm & Hammer Free & clear. I tried it years ago; resulting in very itchy skin. So I gave it up and went back to Tide Free and Clear. It is worth the extra money. Plus, I find my clothes come out cleaner in the Tide.

I remember my mom using only All or Wisk for the clothes. I switched to Tide.

Does this work? I can never seem to get workout clothes completely odorless.
Yes! I uses the regular oxyclean when the kids were babies and formula made bibs and things reek. I switched to the odor one a few years ago for this.

There have been a few things that I eventually tossed because even this and Persil weren’t getting the odors out. But in general its worked well!

Just thinking of how some folks cannot seem to exist without drama and chaos,I believe they choose this sort of life because they never mindfully make decisions ,they " react" without deliberation and only make bad situations worse

I have a friend( acquaintance probably a better word) who is always the victim of some outrageous circumstance ,it's exhausting to be around her.....always has to move because of crazy landlords, employers cheat her out of pay and these things are really true but I think she sets herself up for failure-isnt it true that people attract a certain type of person because they do the same things over n over that put them in bad situations ?

If your always working hard and not getting paid what you've earned why would you tolerate it the first time you came up short? If you keep getting looney landlords perhaps you should look for Apts in a different way?

The landlord sold the house without telling the girl, promising she could stay til September and suddenly giving hardly any notice to vacate..... a very long story but now the landlord shut the electric to get out....she had a neighbor go in the meter room and break the seal to turn it back on..... so now as I see it she's stealing power and meter tampering

Always bad decisions- how does anyone expect to change their life when they " react" so foolishly?

Jeez that is crazy. One thing I will point out is that often this kind of thing comes from childhood trauma and boundary issues, you wouldn’t believe how many awful friendships I have lived through due to being inadvertently taught a good girl is a doormat for anyone who needs one to make themselves feel better. This followed me into my work life too where I only recently got to where I can stand up for myself and insist that I be respected as a human being.

In the case of the landlord, him kicking her out without proper notice and cutting off utilities to force her out is very illegal from what I understand. Meter tampering maybe, but stealing power not really. The company will get paid their dues, who pays may be an interesting question given the landlord’s dumb choices. If I came home to no power to cook dinner one day I assure you someone would be in a courtroom very quickly but not everyone has the money to sue a crook into oblivion. (I am extremely passionate about renter rights as well as the landlord rights LOL)

I told her exactly what to do - it is against the law for a landlord to shut off water, gas or electric plus no one van force you out of the rental unit except the County Sheriff- an order to vacate must be obtained from the Court, posted or served properly as well- then you respond ( all she had to do was call the police and they would've called the landlord informing her of the Law- I know the person well and police can handle the matter with no problem)

Yes,it is unlawful to tamper with an elextric meter and also power theft is a crime plus unlawful entry into the electrical room to unauthorized persons( only FPL or a licensed electrician with a work order may have access)

So now,she and her ' friend" are on cctv unlawfully entering,FPL shut the power off and now it will show kilowatt usage- the owner( landlord) will be notified and billed,in turn shell call the property mgr ordering to see who entered the room and the girl just doesn't think because she's a reactionary whirlwind of chaos.....

Plus she called the new ( prospectivs)owners realtor, the landlords daughter,FPL,the maintenance person and she cannot ever keep her mouth shut and thibk anything through.... now that she has told everyone in the universe she had no power what do you suppose will come of it all? Lol

If she could've just taken the proper route ,maybe light candles for one day she would've had an excellent case to file a small claims ( no attorny needed)and be compensated for her troubles up to 3xz the amount of one months rent if found in favor of thd Court .... plus gotten an emergency order to turn electric on and probably granted an extended stay.....

Some have to learn the hard way and some never learn a thing....she is going to have to call someone else for advice & " poor me" because it's a waste of my time really
