Entertainment while my kids are at Christmas festivities during crummy weather. My blanket and pillow are in DHs car so I’m using a beach towel like a blanket. I should have downloaded 2 episodes. And packed snacks with my mint tea.

You're such a good Mom- at least today you can watch TV ,I remember I always wore dark sunglasses while my boy played football (touch)or T- ball( ,he was 5 and usually on the bench) so I could " get a little shut eye" and he'd say" did you see that Mommy"

I'd prop myself up nicely so not to fall over sound asleep, lol

When I was still working, I carried a 'winter survival kit' at all times. It was two wool blankets, a heavy knit cap, parka, gloves, chemical heat packs for body, hands, and feet, and energy bars; all kept in one of those space bags. And yes, a couple of times it was needed when breakdowns occurred. The only thing it lacked was electronic entertainment. Now, the only time I have to wait in the vehicle in cold weather is while Michele is in one store or another meandering about, and I have books to occupy my time.

I have been veeeery tempted to nap! Theres a section of the church parking lot that is fenced with tall greenery behind it. I park there for shade when its hot. Put up the sun screen and no one might notice.

(I’m secretly very grateful neither one of my kids are into sports. Id have one of those pop up weather pods and heated blankets for sure!! My cousin’s boys both play hockey and I spent enough time at my other cousins games to appreciate her sacrifice. 🥶)

Only an hour and a half. If it was longer and the weather was better I could have gone shopping or to my moms. I don’t like invading their evenings. Although that didn’t stop me from calling my stepdad for car help a few weeks ago. :paperbag: He turned out to be at the church too anyway. I didn’t want to be putting air in my tires alone after dark and DH was too far away.

Sometimes I enjoy the time because I can just sit and read, play games or watch something. No guilt for not cooking or cleaning. I’m really feeling spoiled having heated seats in the car but i try not to just sit with it running. I pack hot tea in my favorite purple tumbler that keeps it hot. And toast the car up before I do my rounds dropping them off. Once in a while my bestie and I will see each other then but her son has been doing youth stuff at a different church across town at that time.

When we lived in snow country we definitely were prepared with emergency supplies! One gripe about the new cars is the lack of space to store that stuff. Even in the trunk it doesn’t quite have what older cars did for compartments. My mom had a whole shovel in our car at times. At least we have cell phones now so people can know where you are. And if we’re getting walloped here they shut everything down. Another advantage to homeschooling for sure; is no snow driving unless absolutely necessary! Which is good because generally I wont. The new Subaru did excellent on the very wet and windy roads tonight though.

I made Christmas cookies with the girls today. Idk why I put myself through that stress.

(In all fairness, it probably would have gone decently if I was just doing it with J. She's impatient, but at least she doesn't literally throw cookie dough on the floor unlike some people who won't be mentioned. ;))

You do it because of the memories. And how fast this:

Because 50 years from now she will be like my son and want to make Christmas cookies with mom every year, just like they used to do.

I know you're all right, but then it's like...I took J out of the bath tonight because she was cold and pulled the plug to drain the bath while M was still in and she chucked a completely full toy pitcher of water at us and soaked the pajamas we already pulled out. I could do babies a million times. I think I'll be okay with the preschool years a second time, but I think the toddler years + my age + M being a crap sleeper really solidifies my decision of my uterus being closed.

I'm going to make the icing for the cookies tomorrow while the girls are in school and then we'll put the frosting and sprinkles on together. But keeping them out of that one step might keep my sanity.

And right now I'm watching last night's survivor and drinking wine and also having some of this I got at my book club white elephant last night.

I loved those little silver nonpareils when I made the xmas cookies w mom, they just seemed magical.

What’s on my mine are 2 Siberian tigers they recently released in Russia. Somehow the 1 found the other 120 miles apart! In the NYT photo they’re cuddling happily and snoozing in the snow! Oh to snuggle with a tiger!

Today, my cat and I walk no longer on foot, but on a motorcycle with a sidecar, which finally returned from the service station.
It is very convenient to put purchases in the stroller, and the motorcycle is much more stable in case of an unexpected maneuver.

My daughter was also a terrible sleeper. So obviously if your not sleeping it is going to affect your mood and ability to get through the next day positively. My daughter's sleeping improved and hopefully yours will as well.❤ Every age does have its hurdles.

Our electric company reads our meter every other month. The months they don't read it you get an estimated bill which you have to pay.Twice we have not had an electric bill for June, July or August because they overcharged us that much in May.Multiple times we have not have to pay a month because of overcharges. A neighboring state does not allow them to do estimated billing they must read the meter every month. That state also sued them for overcharging customers and they were required to pay back millions to customers.People have complained to state reps repeatedly with no change.Just got an email saying they are contracting with a company to do their billing and will now charge 50¢ and payment,if you want to avoid that payment use auto pay. I would not do auto pay with this company any more then I would Comcast.

@ IzzysfureverMom IzzysfureverMom It's sad that certain companies can't be trust - and really telling when most of us know who those companies are and yet nothing is ever done - for the most part - to force them to be honest in their business practises.

I started watching British TV show last year called "The Devils Hour" - it's different and it takes a bit to sort out what's up. The writers are good and someone has an understanding of certain theoretical sciences. I thought it was a mini series and ended on a note that made me sad. but now there is a second season. Maybe it will end better.

I like how British TV has normal looking people a lot. Not all fancy and perfect everything all the time. It certainly makes the stories feel more real.

I think I am actually done Christmas shopping with the exception of stocking stuffers for DH and 5 gift cards. One birthday one too. I refuse to send our nephew a joint birthday-Christmas gift. I mail them on different days too. It’s not his fault he was born 2 days before Christmas.

I’m still watching tracking on several orders. But I’m not sure who will be more glad that I’m done…me or DH!! :paperbag:
