Assuming you have car insurance, you might be able to do a bundle.hopefully the fire that started last night in malibu doesnt make it harder to find homeowners insurance

When they had that fire in Maui, there was a photo of the The One House Left Standing. It seemed to have some sort of rock barrier all the way around it and a metal roof. There may come a time when there IS no insurance, the way things are going. I guess we shouldn’t even grow any trees near homes anymore, just have rocks & succulents.not that easy now with companies puling out or limiting new policies
WOW saw that.Pulling out of CA and issues with insurance companies in FLA as wellnot that easy now with companies puling out or limiting new policies
bad business sense/logic for any to stay around in such a high risk marketWOW saw that.Pulling out of CA and issues with insurance companies in FLA as well
These insurance companies make money hand over fist- collectively they could probably afford to pay out every claim on Ashville NC and still have their profits! They are crooks imo-Ive been around a long time and have seen many friends with legitimate claims having to fight tooth & nail to get what they paid for- and did not, your paying for piece of mind and then they can make you lose your mind... trulyWOW saw that.Pulling out of CA and issues with insurance companies in FLA as well
I guess that we've been lucky with insurance. The only claim we put in on our homeowner's policy was in 2012, when a wind and rainstorm toppled two of our neighbor's trees into our yard, taking out the fence, and damaging the garage roof, deck, and the roof on the back of the house. The adjuster was out the next day and cut a check on the spot that covered everything- new fence, new garage roof, replace the gutters and repair the roof on the house, and rebuild the deck, but that last I did myself. These insurance companies make money hand over fist- collectively they could probably afford to pay out every claim on Ashville NC and still have their profits! They are crooks imo-Ive been around a long time and have seen many friends with legitimate claims having to fight tooth & nail to get what they paid for- and did not, your paying for piece of mind and then they can make you lose your mind... truly
Back in 92,Andrew hit Miami hard- catastrophic, those crooks were filing Chapter 13 left & right to avoid payouts - many many pulled out of Florida back then- they're back,it's about time they pay out.....at least now its against the law for them to drop you and they must renew and cannot deny policies BUT something has to be done about the outrageous premium hikes as a result.... they are disgusting, theyve hiked up rates even in low risk areas throughout Florida -
I have custom car insurance - it's a 2004 but I pay for actual dollar value- had an accident and still they refused to pay for new fiberglass hood- insisted on a used 2004 replacement..... I had to call the State Insurance Commissioner to intervene, next day my hood was ordered.....I know that's very minor in comparison to losing an entire house but it's exactly what they do..... crooks
Such a Blessing- you have no idea how many folks in your neck of the woods do not have certain specifics with "storm" coverage clauses and a tree falling is called "Act of God"( and I'm dead serious) no check!I guess that we've been lucky with insurance. After the storm, our neighbor, whose tree was one of them that got us, was quoted a price of $1,100 to remove said tree. I borrowed my brother's chainsaw and cut it up myself, and a co-worker hauled it away, as he had a fireplace. There was around two cords of wood, all told, and it didn't cost no $1,100, either.Such a Blessing- you have no idea how many folks in your neck of the woods do not have certain specifics with "storm" coverage clauses and a tree falling is called "Act of God"( and I'm dead serious) no check!
Years ago a friend of mine, lived in Brooklyn- funny thing is there's not many trees in Bensonhurst Bklyn- a tree on his street was hit by lightening, crushed his car parked under it and wasn't paid a dime----his insurance broker then tried to file the claim refused by his Auto insurer under his home owners insurance .... zippo!
That's not uncommon with Auto Insurance I found out but everyone should review their home owners policies very carefully- fine print especially
Many people give up easily though, they do count on that when they deny a claim.... best thing to do is contact the State Insurance Commissioner and save yourself a headache
I'm very glad you were fully compensated - you paid for it and were entitled to that check! Alot of folks have no complaints,my Dr's vacay home in North Florida was flooded twics, last years hurricsjne and this Milton- renovated everything, all new furniture and better than before- no issues, paid in full easy breezy..... go figure?
And if someone was to purchase 2 cords of wood, what would that cost? After the storm, our neighbor, whose tree was one of them that got us, was quoted a price of $1,100 to remove said tree. It depends on the wood. This was a Norway maple, and not worth as much as oak or a fruitwood. Those bring the big bucks. A late friend of ours worked in an apple orchard after retiring, and when they would prune trees, or cut down old trees, he would sell it. 20 or so years ago, he was getting $70 for a face cord. What it would be now, I have no idea. And if someone was to purchase 2 cords of wood, what would that cost?
$1100 bucks then they make money on your wood, right?
So a face cord is less than 1/3 of a full cord, right? It has to be at the very least double I would think..... gee willickersIt depends on the wood. Yep; a full cord is 4ft.x 4ft.x 8ft., whereas a face cord is 4ft.x 16in.x 8ft.So a face cord is less than 1/3 of a full cord, right? It has to be at the very least double I would think..... gee willickers

M really likes giving Sparkle cat treats. It's pretty cute.
It makes up for her being very much a Toddler today. Almost.
Not just homeowners or auto only. Two days before my mother in law passed she authorized the cashing in of one of three small life insurance policies to pay for in patient hospice if necessary. The in home hospice around Medicare said she would probably live 3-4 weeks. She did not have enough money to cover that. After she passed my husband called several times to stop the surrender but they refused. Because it was surrendered they took a couple thousand dollars out of the amount. Took forever to get the check and it took more then 20 more calls to finally get the check sent. They also took tax out because they said state she lived in required it.My husband kept telling them the state did not require because it is a very small estate.mGuess what? He was right according to the probate office. They sent him a bunch of forms to get that money back. These insurance companies make money hand over fist- collectively they could probably afford to pay out every claim on Ashville NC and still have their profits! They are crooks imo-Ive been around a long time and have seen many friends with legitimate claims having to fight tooth & nail to get what they paid for- and did not, your paying for piece of mind and then they can make you lose your mind... truly
