So; I have one less to-do item on my list. I recently received a jury summons in the mail because I'm a registered voter. Since that is not among my favorite things in life, I wasn't looking forward to it. However, when I went online this afternoon, I was informed that there are no trials scheduled, so my group of 220 won't be needed, and I won't be called for at least another six years. Yay! Twice before, I was called for jury duty, but have never served on one. The closest time was the first time, when we were actually taken into the courtroom, but the trial was cancelled because the plaintiff in a domestic violence case didn't show up, so the case was dismissed. Too bad, because the guy looked like a real slimeball.

What people should do & what they do do is two separate things....... I've worked extremely hard a number of years to change things around here with zero help-I have no energy left ,it's a different world.......
Reading your reply tells me your faced with two choices. 1. Continue your current situation with the Management Company running things. 2. Relocate to another residence away from your Condo site.

I got a jury summons too for Oct 21-Nov 15. I am hoping that working for a Police Department will get me disqualified quickly and I won't have to do it.

When I got the call up I watched 12 Angry Men, did my research, got picked, took copious notes, listened attentively….and it turned out the guy had faked injuries before, using the old neck brace trick. I wanted to be the perfect juror, and felt disillusioned that this guy was wasting everybody’s time. But I’d do it all again: I WANT to be that person who cares about right and wrong. I hope I’d get folks that would care about me, esp. if I needed defending. At least I got a free sandwich and a cuppa coffee.

**Hear Hear! ** I love winter, though I despise ice. We had a wonderfully mild winter last year, with minimal snowfall. I won't be surprised if we have the exact opposite this winter.
One thing I don't like about Texas is your never sure when winter will start, how long, will there be ice or snow. Sometimes winter only lasts a week!

That's all? Here, a juror gets $40 for each day that a trial lasts, with no maximum.

Anyone else's cat throw themselves onto the ground instead of calmly laying down? Boone will walk and then suddenly throw himself onto his side with an audible thud. He is 24 lbs so when he hits the floor, I am not surprised it makes a sound. It's not violent but very intentional. Has been doing it since he was little so it's just a weird quirk about him. He also does it if he knows you want to pick him up. He will walk away from you and flop. Guess he knows it's harder to pick up dead weight that splattered onto the floor than when he is on all fours.

Bashful, Digger, and Miss Eleanor all do that from time to time, especially if they want a belly rub. Although not as substantial as Boone, they still make a thud when they flop.

“Primordial stirrings from a newborn universe” is how the New York Times and YouTube explain the SOUNDS of the Big Bang. It’s pretty life affirming. Regardless of what you believe, it’s pretty exciting. To know that at the beginning of the universe, the world to be had sound. To me, it sounds either like a whale, or perhaps what you ought to hear, inside a womb.

miserable weather to be out in going from house to house that have an open house :lol:i am getting an understanding kinda of how gf is processing this its just like when she shops for clothes:lol:she has to feel/touch the clothes before trying them on
It’s a big step. Just think of the end goal. Pace yourself. Hydrate. Remember to ask all the right questions, but also, go with your soul, how you will feel in it. Maybe take notes.

I got my jury summons a few weeks ago, just about exactly ten years since the last time. It’s a real PITA in my county because the courthouse is in the downtown area with heavy traffic and miserable parking. And they make you sit in a crowded room with about 50 people for the full first week and then on call the second. Fortunately though, once your turn 70 you can opt out of serving, which I immediately did.

We don't have that option here. My older brother was called for grand jury duty when he was 82, and I'm a whole lot closer to 80 than I am to 70.

What's on my mind?
Hoping and praying Tropical Storm Milton does not become Hurricane Milton and hits Tampa Bay....we just went through one storm, don't need another....
ME, TOO! I'm in Eastern NC, but Spawn 1 and family are in St. Pete. Just talked with him, and they're in as good a shape as they can be, stocking up (AGAIN), and hoping for the best. Thankfully, he's got solar panels, WELL-SECURED, and an excellent storage battery as back up. I cringed when I saw Milton referred to as "possibly Tampa Bay's Katrina."

Took Gracie no time to break one of the Halloween decorations. Went to light everything up and noticed only a couple lights on the witch's broom were on. It had fairy lights wrapped around from top to bottom. Upon further inspection, I saw the wire was in two pieces near the bottom/battery box. Gracie had been messing with it all day but thought she was chewing on the broom part. Apparently she was chewing on the fairy lights wire and gnawed it in two. :bat:
