As a rule, you do drain canned vegetables.
Thanks. I try to follow the directions, but lately I've been realizing that these companies don't seem to test their own directions!

Lunch: Veggie Sammich-- Dad's homemade bread toasted, Ken's Honey Mustard Dressing, Hot Mama's Too Hot Habanero Sauce, Lettuce, Tomato, 1 Hard Boiled Egg, Trader Joe's Pistachios, Slice Kraft American Cheese, Finished up the Target Penguin Crackers.

Dinner: Amy's Pad Thai with Hot Mama's Too Hot Habanero Sauce. It was okay, but kind of tangy. Maybe too much lime or something in it.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 --You're right, Ken's is the best honey mustard dressing! I tried them all.

Canned veggies are processed and the liquid usually contains salt and maybe some preservatives. Frozen veggies are just that: the veggie cut into pieces and frozen as is.

I think most companies assume people will just drain out the liquid so the directions are just vague.

I barely survived work dinner :thud: 8 items over the course of an hour and a half, served family style. There was a pasta with squash, a grilled steak, a kale salad, toasted bread with a mushroom caponata, some kind of roasted potato dish, tuna crudo, grilled broccoli, corn pancakes with popcorn. Dessert was an apple skillet thing, served just past 9:30pm. The menu items were selected to please both meat and non-meat eaters. The food was good, the restaurant awfully very dimly lit inside and blaring music :cringe:

I would hate a meal where they space out the courses. I like all my food on one single plate all at once. 🍽

corn pancakes with popcorn
Popcorn on the pancakes?

Lunch: Veggie Sammich-- Dad's homemade bread toasted. I burnt it cause I toasted it right after he made it still hot, Ken's Honey Mustard Dressing, Hot Mama's Too Hot Habanero Sauce, 1 Hard Boiled Egg, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Pistachios, I forgot the cheese again! I knew something was missing.

Dinner: Huge Dinner Plate Salad- Lettuce, Tomato, 1 Hard Boiled Egg, Pistachios, Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, Aldi Tropical Trail Mix dried fruit/nuts, Cottage Cheese, Late July Chia Flax Tortilla Chips, Ken's Honey Mustard Dressing.

I haven't had Roy Rogers since the 80's. I didn't know that they were still around. They used to have amazing fried chicken.

Chicken wings with garlic bread for me.
Where I live is pretty much stuck in the past so I really don't know if there are other Roy Rogers's around.

I had half a garbanzo cake sandwich on multigrain bread with hummus, red pepper, spinach leaves and melted swiss cheese. Carrots on the side. My usual honeycrisp apple and a dark chocolate almond butter cup for dessert.

The rice turned out well. Changes for next time: definitely use unsalted stock as the regular broth plus all the cheese made the dish a bit too salty for my taste. And use a little less liquid because 3 1/2 cups of broth plus 1/4 cup milk cooked the rice but the result was a bit mushy, almost risotto-like. I had to leave the lid open a bit to let some of the liquid evaporate.

Chicken and vegetables (carrot, celery, leek, onion, green peas) with dumplings. Cubed chicken breast, diced vegetables other than leek and green peas, cooked in homemade chicken broth with added fresh rosemary and thyme. Dumplings came out light as a feather. Lovely meal.
