I love grits any way they are fixed but hubby does not... he likes these real well though.I LOVE cheesy grits! And now I want some.
I'm sorry but none of that sounds good. I went to a restaurant on Thursday that was mostly vegetarian and I thought it was awful. The only thing that look decent was a picture that turned out to be a cauliflower sub, cole slaw and sweet potato fries. The sub was so spicy I could not eat it and the cole slaw was all fruit with pineapple and it was nasty. The fries were so so. I am starting to change my mind about vegetarian restaurants. I don't know why they have to have everything so hot that I can't eat it. Not everybody likes spicy food and they don't tell you which ones are hot.Since I'm meeting friends for dinner at a new restaurant I'm not sure what I'm having for dinner. I looked at the menu on-line and it's a toss up between mushroom, baby arugula, carmelized onion and mozzarella flatbread or kung pao cauliflower.
I chose the mushroom flatbread which was like a super thin pizza w/cracker thin crust. It was supposed to be cooked with a chili oil but I asked them to leave it off even though I like certain spices. Could you do the same if you don't like hot spicy food? Most restaurants will make accommodations if you ask for mild spices. Sorry your restaurant experience was not pleasant.I'm sorry but none of that sounds good.

My DH used to say that too. When he really liked something it would become so popular that the stores were always out of it or it would be discontinued. I'm glad that you found something you like! All we have to do is like something. It's the kiss of death. The item vanishes from the shelves / freezer case. Hagen Daz (which is not a Scandinavian company, BTW) had a dark chocolate cherry amaretto that was so good. Only in my dreams now. And Lean Cuisine had a tortilla crusted fish that my husband liked for lunch. Gone, gone, gone.
I'm not about to try and replicate the ice cream but there are all sorts of "as found in the freezer case" recipes. So last night I made tortilla crusted fish for our dinner. He really liked it.
Bought tilapia at Costco. Tossed a fillet (cut in 2 lengthwise along the "seam") with flour, dipped in beaten egg, breaded with finely crushed Tostitos Hint of Lime tortilla chips. Pan fried in shallow oil. Finished with a squeeze of lime.
Served with a side of corn, black beans, rice embellished with some Goya Sazon. And a half avocado for each of us. With a squeeze of fresh lime.
He really enjoyed it, said it was even better than the Lean Cuisine version, and I don't need to tweak the recipe.
I thoughtfully did not point out the difference between chucking something into the microwave for a few minutes and cooking from scratch.
I agree. They really do. I'm sure yours was way better though. It's sort of like I found something I / we like, Kat0121. But it means doing it all, from shopping to prepping to preparing it myself. O.K. for dinner but I'm not prepared to do what it takes to make tortilla crusted fish for lunch. Besides, the Lean Cuisine version was a skimpy little piece of fish suitable for lunch but not for dinner. My version was ample for dinner but way too much for lunch. Sort of like they get you coming or going.

I will have to ask them not to make it spicy. They should tell you on the menu whether something is hot and spicy.I'm sorry but none of that sounds good. I know! What happened to Bailey's Irish Cream ice cream? I used to make milkshakes out of that, with a shot of the real stuff for those adults so inclined. YUMMY! And it's getting harder and harder to find pumpkin ice cream, even in season. And Durkee's Famouse Sauce is hard to find now, although I can, and DO, order it. Best thing for turkey sandwiches EVER! LOL, can you tell I'm starting to think "Thanksgiving" already? All we have to do is like something. It's the kiss of death. The item vanishes from the shelves / freezer case.
If you really love butternut squash, you might google sunnys stuffed butternut squash. They are so good!I know! What happened to Bailey's Irish Cream ice cream? Tonight? I dunno. I haven't dug around in the freezer, there's nothing thawed. SO...probably either fish sticks or taquitos, with whatever veggie screams my name from the depths of said freezer.
OH OH OH...I found recipes for butternut squash pasta sauce, and for pork, apple and sage meatballs! The two go together GREAT, so that will be a thing to try when "fall" is more than a page on the calendar!
Most menus have a symbol by the entree denoting if it's spicy. Some of the ethnic restaurants I go to have 3 options, e.g. mild, medium or spicy. I hope you have a better experience next time.I will have to ask them not to make it spicy. They should tell you on the menu whether something is hot and spicy.

Thank you!I love to cook, and always have. Both my Mom and my Grandmother were,in my opinion, exceptional cooks.I love to experiment and play, come up with a new way to do something.I can't leave things alone...always have to tweak it in some way.I'll read a recipe and think...well,why couldn't you do this...and so I do.Not always successful but....I know Winchester is the same way.Owning a restaurant,to me,is too much of a gamble, and a lot of work.I'd rather be challenged right in my own kitchen.I'm so hungry reading your posts. lizzie Woman, you can cook!! Do you come up with these recipes on your own? You sound like a natural cook. Maybe you should open your own restaurant; you and Winchester can co-run it and I'll be the taste tester.
Bacon sandwich, green beans for dinner.
