A huge Milestone for me is that Puddles was just caught making biscuits in the dog's bed, and she jumped up in MY bed yesterday eve, with me 'N Winter on it. Pretty good for 2.5 weeks into her being here :) . Out of all the cats in my life, so far this has been the easiest introduction between dog and cat!

First off; nobody really owns a cat, they just allow us to wait on them hand and......um...paw.
Our first milestone was when we socialized, then adopted, our first feral, Burdock. He trusted us to the point that all we had to do was hold the door open and he walked right in.
The other was when we socialized and adopted an entire litter- three cats- and again just let them in, where they have been ever since. It was a learning experience, to be sure, but they all have gone from wild to greater or lesser degrees of cuddle cats, if not outright lap cats.

Sometimes we get lucky with our picks of new family members!

I'd say a milestone with my cats is there seems to be a time (even with cats I've raised since kittens) when your cats fully trusts you. They let you touch them and mess with them however you need to. They just seem to understand more that you're not going to hurt them and that you are generally doing things that benefit them.

Our shelter rescue Minnie we got as a friend for our other cat Emi. She hid under the bed for 2 weeks and only came out when we left the room. 1st milestone was getting her to come out and eat some fresh chicken. There have been so many. We have had her for about a year now and still can’t pick her up. The biggest milestone I’d have to say is when she started laying on my wife’s feet when they are covered with a blanket and lets her pet her some.
For me it’s that she doesn’t run when I come close and put my hand by her. Sometimes she will sniff my fingers and I swear the look she gives is if I had just been handling dog poop.
The big one that’s almost happened recently is jumping on my wife’s lap. She really wants to sometimes but for whatever reason doesn’t.

Getting the stray someone dumped on us on Halloween (yes the cat was black) out of very tall redwood tree where it was desperately yowling. He turned out to be just a big a pushover who won us all over. :blackcat2: 🎃

We adopted Mowie last year as a companion for Ozzy who was lonely after our other cat died. We weren't sure we'd done the right thing--she was SO skittish, we couldn't even pet her and we were afraid she wouldn't warm up to Ozzy at all. The first time she allowed him to sleep right next to her I was so excited. I said 'Look, look, they're TOUCHING!'

The smartest albeit most independent cat we adopted was Neely. She was an owner surrender probably because she was a handful. She gave us every indication she had been an outdoor cat. The biggest milestone was when she slept through the night and didn't try to go outside. It took us two years to reach that goal but our perseverance finally paid off.👍

…I wonder what a big milestone would be in a cat’s life for training us?
I can think of one! Daisy has moved past merely accepting her daily Osmolax (same as Miralax) doses, to liking them so much she drinks from the spoon, to getting in my face to remind me if I forget to give it to her on time.
