I figured the knowledgeable breeders around here know the most about coloring, patterns, etc... even when it comes to moggies.

When I got this little guy he was PURE BLACK, with the exception of a couple of random hairs on his legs being greyish. As he gets older, he's getting more and more silver. Can fever coat appear out of nowhere? Or do they have to be born with it? I'm pretty sure he's not considered a smoke because it's not black tips to white near the skin... it's just silver.. and every day there's more of it!!!

Anyone?

When I first got him:

Fever coat can appear later, not just at birth. From those photos it looks more like fever coat than smoke and will likely grow out as the new coat comes in, it can take months for the new coat to come in.

Smokes seem to be visible at birth, not as black as this little guy. But I don't breed smokes

He's a very cute boy, looks like quite a character
