What does everyone use to store their cat litter scoop?

I’ve been interested to try the tofu litter. I’m curious how the litter clumps from urine but then dissolves in water so it can be flushed?

My practice since day 1 before I switched over to Tofu Cat Litter till today is double bagged the poop and tie up the bag and pee clumps wrapped up in newspaper and be thrown together with the rest of the rubbish in another bag.

The Tofu Litter in the toilet bowl in my thread is an experimental trial to confirm the manufacture's claim that the Tofu Litter can be flushed down the toilet system.

To add on :

Each time I clear my boy pee or poo, I’ll use IPA to clean the scoop, spatula, spoon and the inside of the litterbox.

Sure! The cat litter goes into a used, plastic grocery bag from some place like Walmart. The bag gets tied in a knot. That bag goes into the kitchen garbage which is, then tied in a knot and taken out to the curb.

The scoop gets put into it's coffee container and the lid gets snapped on. That keeps any cat waste contained, preventing unsightly messes. Put it under the bathroom sink, stash a few extra plastic bags for good measure and you're good to go!

When you get another empty coffee container, throw the old one out and use the new one.

It's virtually zero extra effort. The hardest part is cutting the hole in the top for the handle of the scoop. Just use a pair of heavy kitchen shears to cut a U-shaped slot in the edge. Once you've done it a couple-few times, it's easy.

I have a litter genie which has a handy scope pocket. Really nice to just scope, dump into litter genie and scope itself goes on the side. Clean litter I reuse one of the tubs it came and pour it out.

I have 2 cats, and 5 litter genies (for 5 litter boxes) in my house. I love the litter genies, the’re are the best invention ever! I buy generic refill bags on Amazon, much cheaper than buying the litter genie brand ones.

Just for information's sake: Isopropyl alcohol is a good disinfectant and antiseptic but it works better when it's diluted between 50 to 75 percent (by volume) with water.

Alcohol works by denaturing the proteins in the outer cell walls of bacteria. Once it starts working on bacterial cells, all the denatured protein molecules build up and hamper further progress. Diluting the alcohol works in two ways. First, it dissolves the denatured proteins and washes them away so more alcohol can get in and do a better job killing bacteria. Second, pure alcohol evaporates fairly quickly. Diluting it allows more alcohol to stay in contact with the surface being disinfected for a longer time, giving it more time to do its job.

When you buy alcohol at the grocery store or pharmacy, it comes as either 70% or 91% strength. If you buy 70%, you can use that straight out of the bottle and it will do a good job at disinfecting things. If you buy 91%, it will work better if you dilute it by a fourth with plain water.

It's not about whether the cat litter might or might not clog the pipes. It is because many municipal waste treatment systems aren't necessarily designed to handle cat waste. There is a potential, regardless whether the cat litter is "flushable," to spread diseases into the environment which can, then, affect other animals or humans. Used cat litter should be bagged, wrapped up or otherwise contained then sent to a landfill.

So alcohol wipes in a can , big ones. Would this be an ideal way to clean a litter scoop daily for clay cat litter ?
My scoop gets so caked with litter it’s disgusting. I clean it every couple of months with nature’s miracle wipes I don’t feel like it’s clean. Looking for a better option trying to get rid of dust.

Mine go in two pockets in very large litter boxes. The one in the garage I put on top of the box hood on a paper towel. I wash them as needed with soap and warm or hot water, sterilize with wipes also as needed. Some I had came with a plastic scoop case that hooked onto the side of the box or it could stand alone.

I also have used he Litter Genie poop and pee collector and platex diaper collectors, but not lately. It’s easier to scoop into a bag and throw that out as it is no so heavy. They do work better to control odor because they are closed off, if you can't take the bags out right away. And the bags are more odor controlling too.

* Keep in mind, alcohol and other things/ wipes such as bleach, benzelkonium chloride, hydrogen peroxide, rescue remedy etc., soap and cool water will not kill t Gondii, only certain temp heat or boiling water will kill it in all phases.

Absolutely! Just check the label to see that they contain more than 50% alcohol. If it's got other ingredients like benzalkonium ammonium chloride or similar sounding things, more's the better but regular alcohol will work just fine.

Also make sure you wipe, scrub or rinse off any physical dirt, first. The surface needs to be physically clean before the alcohol will work. Any dirt on the surface will stop the alcohol from working.

My poop container is an old litter container, lined with a kitchen waste bag. In that goes the scoop. It's right beside the litterbox, so it's easy to scoop and go
