Picking him up this week from a local shelter. Don't know anything about the parents. Out of a litter of 7 he was the only was who looks like this. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks,

Hi and welcome to the site :wavey:

What a little cutie :heart3:

He would be classed as a seal lynx point :D

Seal = brown
Lynx = tabby
Point = colorpoint pattern

Hope this helps ;)

Will his brown become more dark with age? His colors are very dilute now and he 3 months old.

Also is it weird that he was the only sibling like this?

Yes he will get darker as he gets older. You will probably find that he also looks lighter in summer and darker in winter too.

Well, this would most likely means that neither of parents were colorpoint's themselves, to look at. But they both carried the colorpoint gene. Both parents must carry the colorpoint gene to produce colorpoint offspring.
Usually if both parents carry the gene - 1 in 4 kittens born will be colorpoint.

His points are such a light gray/tan that you can barely tell they're different from the rest of the coat. Will his eyes change color anymore since he's 3 months now? Sorry I'm new to these cats.

His points are very light at the moment because all colorpoint kittens are born completely white. They start to develop the color on their points a few days to week after being born, and get darker as they age.

The colorpoint gene causes the coat color to be affected by temperature. The coldest parts of the body are darker in color, and warmer parts stay lighter.

Because this gene is affected by body temperature, when a colorpoint kitten is born, he is born pure white, as he's been in his mother at all the same warm temperature. Once born, the extremities (tail,ears,nose,legs) cool slightly they are the coldest parts of the body and over the first few weeks of life the fur darkens as it grows. This coloring change is most dramatic in the first few weeks of life, because the kittens start out pure white, and by the end of 2 weeks have definite pattern and color to them. But this color change continues on over the next few years, and sometimes throughout their entire life. As the older they get, and their circulation slows, many times they will get much darker in color all over. But because of this color change, a 8 week old kitten does not look like he will look when he's a year old, or when he's 4 years old. This confuses some people, as they see a very cute light colored kitten, and then wonder why another cat that is referred to as the same color, looks so much different at a different age.

Yes his eyes will stay that lovely blue color too. ;) All colorpoint cats have blue eyes
