He's a cute guy, and I like his name, too! How long have you had him?

I would describe Tofu as a blue tabby and white domestic shorthair. Blue is the official term in the cat fancy for gray. With so much white on him, Tofu probably has two copies of the gene for white spotting, so it's likely that both of his parents had white markings. His parents might have had a lot of white like Tofu, or just a little bit of white.

The Turkish Van is a longhaired breed that is mostly white, with color patches restricted to the head and tail. The same white spotting gene is responsible for the markings in the Turkish Van breed and in other domestic cats with white, including "bicolor" cats (half white) and "tuxedo" cats (just a little white). White markings don't indicate that a cat has Turkish Van ancestry.

Most cats are not any particular breed, and are also not mixes of breeds, unlike dogs. But that doesn't make them any less special... domestic shorthairs are great cats :)

Hi,
His eyes look like he may have some Siamese ancestry. Which is not uncommon at all in domestic cats, to have some Siamese, as they have been in the West for many years.
