Hi everyone! Meet Murphy, who is a loving and affectionate big guy (he weighs 12.5 lbs & vet said he is healthy). I adopted him a few months ago and was told he is a seal point Siamese/Maine Coon mix with white markings. He has little lynx point tufts on his ears, big blue eyes and a wide face. He was fixed after he reached maturity. He has white front paws and back legs.

Since he was a rescue, I do not know his exact age... the shelter said he was about 3 years old. He was found on the street in the cold canadian winter and had frostbite on his paws & ears. His "snaggle" tooth gives him a special charm (the vet assured me his teeth were healthy and the crooked tooth probably occurred when he was small).

He is the most affectionate cat I have ever met... he sleeps right beside my head on the pillow every night (even the first night I brought him home from the shelter). I have never heard him hiss & if he needs space, his "scratches" are more taps than anything. His play "bites" never break the skin and he is very gentle. He flops when you pick him up. He is fairly quiet and has a high pitched meow, which he uses occasionally when I get home from work.

He is an only cat, because he did not get along with other cats since he was on the street (what I was told). He gets startled very easily and is weary of strangers so he hides, but once he gets comfortable he is very affectionate.

Any guesses on what breed he resembles would be greatly appreciated! I will still love him all the same, I am just a little curious about his possible ancestry.

I’d describe him as a seal point domestic shorthair with white. The points gene is recessive, and fairly common for cats of no recent/significant breed ancestry to carry nowadays, though the gene did originally come from Siamese cats. Most cats aren’t of a breed or any mix of breeds — they’re just cats, which may fall into resembling your local landrace of cats, or may look a bit different, depending on where they’re from, or what their genetics are like.
Regardless, lack of breed or breed ancestry doesn’t make your gorgeous boy any less special, though, and I hope you two get to enjoy many more years together.

He’s unlikely to have a Maine Coon parent (at least not pure MC) as very few pedigree MCs carry the point gene. It’s been largely bred out of the few lines that had it, as it’s not a recognized/allowed colour. That said, it’s quite possible that he has a domestic longhair parent with lynx tips, as he has them himself, and more than likely that his other parent has points.
