Dont worry he doesn’t seem to be in pain but I noticed a hole type thing on his chest. He is a nine year old cat in a multicat household. He came walking in like he normally does but when he layed down I noticed a wet spot on his chest.

It could've been a lot of things, but likely a bite from another animal. Please have him see a vet though! Puncture wounds are especially prone to infection. Vet may want to flush and treat with antibiotics. Puncture wounds don't always heal well with only topical treatments and most human topicals aren't necessarily safe for cats. Puncture wounds often will scab at the opening but infection is then trapped inside to fester and then you end up with a big abscess.

Welcome to TCS! :wave3: First question, does he go outdoors? If so, it could possibly be an insect bite. It's difficult to say since we don't know his habits or the environment/climate where you live, i.e. rural/open fields, urban/densely populated, hot/humid, etc. I agree you should contact your vet and not wait for it to get worse - better safe than sorry. Good luck and please keep us posted.

He is an indoor/outdoor cat who loves to climb pine trees. We are in a rural area with lots of pine forests and the temperature is dropping in the 50/40s during the day and mid 30s at night.

It could be anything. Could be a bug bite, another animal or even he fell into a stick or twig. The biggest thing now is caring for it. I have indoor/outdoor cats too and my general rule of thumb is anything scabbed over I watch and wait. If it gets red and weepy, we see the vet. If it's not scabbed over, we see the vet.

Which means in your case, I would be seeing the vet.

If he is indoor/outdoor, possibly an abcess. Be sure it drains fully, before healing.

Welcome to TCS

What is your question, what it is or does he need medical attention?

My guess is a puncture wound but it can also be a skin ulcer caused by parasite, infection or something underlying and not necessarily an inflicted wound ...I would see the Vet

Hard to know anything when cats go outdoors to roam freely....I wouldn't assume he was injured outsude either ,as I mentioned there are many things it could be- best to have it examined imo

What's your cats name?
