I am only wondering if anyone has heard if cats who primarily live outside are at risk of getting the West Nile disease. Just tonight I heard on the news of a dog contracting this illness. If cats are at risk are there any precautions that I can taketp prevent this? I know Not to spray them with things like OFF but is there anything else?

Right now there is no known case of cats getting WNV. The dog was 8 years old so now they are saying if you have an elderly dog or a puppy they can be at risk to get it. They are reporting, birds, squirrels, prarie dogs and rabbits (wild) that have come down with the disease. But no cats that I have heard of.

I just gave my two horses their second set of injections today against this deadly disease. It hasn't reached Oregon yet, but I hear it is getting close.
