Whatever you find out with the oncologist, she is happy. It sounds like whatever it is, you caught it quickly and that’s a huge plus. I just went through this and I know it is hard not to feel panicky but truly, as long as she doesn’t know something is different, all is well. Sending you all prayers for great days.

Thank you so much. I am encouraged that she is acting totally normal, doing all her cute stuff, and eating well. I am praying so very hard for a hopeful visit with the specialist. I'll keep you all posted. :hearthrob:

I am so sorry about Shelby, hugs to you both ❤ I hope the oncologist appointment goes well and she can get some treatments that will help her. That is good that she is feeling well too. I know how hard this is, I have been through it too many times. My kitties are my babies too.

For your sweet girl, with prayers for all to be so much better than you fear.

Thank you so much for the beautiful and hopeful message. Tomorrow morning at 10:00 is our appointment with the oncologist. I'm praying for some hopeful news. She's eating well, acting totally normal and our regular vet says her blood work is wonderful. She's my precious little love. I'll keep you all informed.

Any news? Or are we biting our lips and waiting for test results?
Thank you so much for checking on my Shelby! We went to the Oncologist for her first treatment 2 weeks ago. The vet was wonderful! He explained everything he would be doing and why. He said he would treat her as if she was his cat. I brought her back the following week for a check up and a second treatment and he said the mass has gotten smaller, she's gained over a pound and her blood work was great! I was so happy, I wanted to explode! She vomited once after the first treatment and I called him and he said that it was probably from the stress and the long ride to the clinic. He was right, she's been fine since. We go in this week for #3, the following week for #4 and then it'll be every other week for a while. The whole course of treatments will be about 6 months and $6,0000, but there is nothing in the world I wouldn't do for any of my kitties! So things are definitely looking up! Thanks so much for your caring msg. !'ll keep updating.

I'm heartbroken to say that we had to put our little Shelby baby to sleep last Friday. I had taken her for her treatment on Thursday, and all was well until 3:00 Friday morning when she cried out in pain and started to vomit. As soon as I could, 8:00 am I called the Oncologist and was told it was not likely from the treatment, but she needed to be on anti nausea meds which they would call into my local vets office. My local vet apparently was too busy to take care of the meds quickly so I called back the Oncologist, who told me to bring her right in. When I got there he examined her and told me to immediately take her to the Emergency Vet across the parking lot. They examined her and said she was very sick, possibly aspirated when she was sick. They planned to keep her there for a couple of days on IV's and oxygen. They called later that day to say she was no better and they did an ultrasound and found that the mass on her intestine had ruptured and she was very sick. They said they could possibly do surgery, but she probable wouldn't make it through the procedure and she'd still have the cancer. On the Doctors recommendation we decided to end her suffering. I held her in my arms and told her how much I loved her and always would. She was so sick, and in shock, and she didn't even look like my beautiful kitty. Her eyes were empty. Now I'm the one that feels empty. Thank you all so much for your help and concern.

My sincere condolences. The right thing to do, and the most difficult. A kindness for them, a devastation for us.

I am so sorry to read this. You did absolutely everything you could for her in this final illness and made the hardest, but best, decision for her.

Thank you so much. She was my sunshine. We picked up her ashes today and she is back home with us. It's a strange sort of comfort having her back home where she will always be safe and loved.

Thanks, I'm holding onto the fact that I did everything I possibly could for her. I would have done anything to keep her with me as long as she wasn't suffering. She sure was (is) loved.
