hi! i was making a video about my cat (i posted the video on youtube just for this) and i noticed something weird in his eye..i don’t see it when i look at him normally i don’t see it any other time except when i was making this video, someone told me it was worms and that i needed to take him to the vet?? but he recently went to the vet about a week or two ago to get fixed. is this something serious?? should i take him back to the vet?? he does go outside sometimes but he hasn’t been outside much at all since he’s been fixed

I'm not certain, but I think it's the nictitating membrane (Nictitating membrane - Wikipedia). If you ever see it a lot you need to take your cat to the vet - it would probably mean that the cat is feeling really bad. However, an occasional view of it isn't worrisome. All the same, let your vet look at the video and verify that I'm right about that.

I don’t think that’s the third eyelid. I see the veins inside the pupil. I would go to the vet and have them look at it. I don’t think you should be able to see all of that in his eyes like that.

Hi whatnowxx and welcome to the forum !

That's not likely a nictitating membrane.

It's more like this:

NOTE: This is NOT a diagnosis....just an example of one specific eye condition...with similar visual characteristics. Here's the 'lowdown' on that particular one: South Texas Veterinary Ophthalmology site - Keratitis/Conjunctivitis.

Here's the nictitating membrane:

Frankly it's not a condition I would entrust to the average general practice Veterinarian.

I'd be looking to have him seen by a specialist...a Veterinary Ophthalmologist. A competent Vet will be able to refer you.....otherwise, there's this: American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists....and, you can find one here: ACVO - Search

Hope that helps.

I agree, that is not a 3rd eyelid showing, in my opinion. I think the cat definitely needs a vet visit!
Best of luck, and do keep us updated.

Not to hijack, but how do you pronounce "nictitating"
