Mostly just watering, eye isn't too swollen, a little discharge greenish in color. Eating/drinking behavior unaffected, so everything else about Marvin seems completely normal. Since this has been going on for a couple days, when to attempt to visit the vet? With the holiday this week, it is tough to get an appointment (except if I went to the emer vet)

I'd go as soon as you can get an appointment with your regular vet. If the weeping was clear it and no other symptoms, it could wait for the annual because it would likely be allergies or a cold type situation. But the fluid being green is more indicative of an infection that needs medication to clear. If he stops eating or develops more symptoms, I'd go sooner.

its looking better today, we'll probably not be able to get into regular vet until at least Friday or Saturday, but I'd rather be in a position to cancel the appt vs. trying to make a last minute emergency

earliest he can get in is Monday, hopefully it doesn’t get worse before then

Monday should be okay. Clean the eye with a warm wet cloth and monitor him for other symptoms. I find it helpful to take photos when possible since you'll have time stamped images to support what it looked like now vs when you see the vet.
