So we were supposed to go on a cruise for our vacation this year, but with COVID we went to plan B and rented an RV for a week long road trip to the Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks. Naturally, we took our furbabies with us in the RV for the adventure.

We had a 25 ft RV rental from Cruise America, and set up the cat's space in the top bunk over the cab. We had their litter box in the corner, and their carrier, a donut bed, and a mat with their food and water bowls (which we offered them on breaks and left out all the time when we were at our campsites). Also we covered the space in a thick blanket so their claws wouldn't damage the bed. Lastly, we brought one of their scratching posts from home and left it in the RV for them to use.

On Day 1, we only drove a couple of hours as we didn't know how the kitties would react to a long drive (we've only done a short 10 minute drive to the vet before). They complained at first, a lot of yowling in the first 15 minutes or so, but then settled down (Scotch stayed in their carrier, Whiskey went to a corner and hunkered down there. We stopped every couple of hours to give them a chance to settle down and drink some water or use the litterbox. It made for slow progress, but they adapted so well it was worth it. When we got the Grand Canyon, both kitties came out at night to explore the RV. The next day they were eating, using the litterbox, and coming out for some pets (at least Whiskey - Scotch doesn't really like pets). On the next long drive, there was no yowling or complaining - both cats just settled into their spots for the drive and were fine once we were parked again.

They actually seemed to enjoy the adventure, and we loved having them with us. Attached are some photos from Scotch and Whiskey's big adventure!

My inlaws have a huge motorhome and take one of their cats all the time. She is the only one of their 6 that doesn't cry the entire time or get car sick. She loves it.
