In the last post I wrote and posted about Joy, the daughter of Neta. Now it's the Mother's turn. Neta had two back-to-back pregnancies, something that can't continue. Now that the new litter is almost four months old we took Neta to be spayed last thursday. She is now with us while she recovers. So far she spends most of her time either sleeping or cleaning herself. She is eating almost constantly, which is probably a good thing, as she is very skinny (likely due to having to take care of six kittens at once).

Been busy with life in general, but here's a late update: Although the vet prescribed two weeks of rest before removing the stitches we decided to let Neta return to her kittens yesterday- she was with us for 10 days and was recovering without incident (better than her daughter Joy, who was beginning to pull her stitches after 8 days). She was eating constantly, and seems a little more... solid? Likely a result of eating so much (good for her, she needed it). Naturally, we are keeping a close eye on her, and will take her back to the vet on the scheduled day to remove the stitches and final checkup.

Only other thing so far: last night when we ruturned from a race and left some food in front of the building for her and the kittens, Neta was unusually agressive with the kittens, not letting them close to her food dish (there are other dishes, so they didn't go hungry). It seems that Pantera's influence has struck again :eek3:

Another late update: Neta is still aggressive with everybody around the food bowl; she even takes swipes* (light swipes, only to warn, fortunately) at the youngest kittens if they try to eat from her bowl. Away from food, she is more or less back to normal except that she has stopped mothering. The older brother and sister- León and Joy take care of the little ones (The other, Pinginho, is usually off exploring) since Neta doesn't. At the same time, her appetite is voracious, she eats as much as she take from basically everybody.

*there have been a couple of times that this newfound courage is a blessing. Two males from the neighborhood show up from time to time to take the food from the young ones. Every time, we see Neta attacking and running off the Toms (each of whom is well more than double her size)
