I just wanted to come here and give a warning to all the pet parent's out there that feed Nature's Variety Diets to the furry babies. This is the SECOND time I have found blue to bluish-gray latex in their LID rabbit food.

I alerted them about it in January of this year with cans dated August 11, 2020 (pic attached that I sent to them). And now it has happened again with cans dated February 16, 2021 (pics attached)!

I am horrified and worried that some people that do not take the time to pick through the food like I do (to remove the peas) will not see it, feed it to their loved one and wonder why they became ill or even died. Something like this can get stuck in their intestine and cause serious harm. Not everything just passes through.

If you feed Nature's Variety Diets PLEASE check through your foods carefully. As for me I am no longer going to feed their formulas. My pet's lives are too important to take the risks.

:headshake: The things that get into our pet food....
Thank for posting about it. That's not an uncommon brand, and I feed it myself in rotation. I'll be taking a closer look at it next time though!

blacksakura6 blacksakura6 , you notified the company AGAIN, I hope! Gosh, I certainly would think a company as large as theirs would have taken the first issue more seriously, unless the 2nd batch was already out :sigh:.

I had this happen one time with a can of Nutro Chunky Chicken, only it was a couple very large pieces of rubber (dime size). I contacted them and they eventually got back with me stating they were never able to determine where the problem occurred, and they said they started with the company who sourced their meat and went all the way through the canning process. I still feed it because it's the only food one of my boys will eat. But because I always mix water into his already wet food, I would notice anything unusual.

Yes, I contacted Nature's Variety again on April 28, 2018 and they just got back to me yesterday, May 7, 2018. This is their response :

"Thank you for reaching out to us! We are so sorry to hear you found a foreign object in the cans. We definitely want to get this over to our Quality Team so they can look into it further and discuss further steps with the manufacturer to avoid anything like this from happening again. In order for them to thoroughly look into this we just need a little bit more information. If you still have the can and could provide the best if used by date and any numbers around it, as well as forward any picture you might have that would be extremely helpful. We really appreciate your help with this!"

I pointed out to the Nature's Variety Rep that all of the info was in the original e-mail along with pictures but somehow the representative did not see it when she read the message. And the pics were not received by Nature's Variety but Chewy (where I purchased the food) said they did receive the pics as well as the info in the same attached mailing. I had to resend the pics to the representative at Nature's Variety but they have not said anything else to me today to let me know if they received it or not.

Chewy got back to me within an hour of writing them saying they would be alerted with their stock that has the dates for the second occurrence of latex.

And this was months apart so I don't think the second cans were manufactured at the same time as the first cans. I can attempt to look past something one time like you did mrsgreeenjeans but not twice. I have had several issues with their food from sharp bones that were like shards to carrots in the LID food when there were not supposed to be any (turns out the machines were not cleaned thoroughly between different formulas).

I give up on them... Even the most patient person has to know when to say enough is enough. I just hope this helps others to check their foods thoroughly. :(

Dang. I use the Instinct in my rotation. I'll look carefully. I don't feed the LID but it seems wise to be careful about all of it.
