Ok I got this idea from another cat forum where a person has a girl cat of 11yo that has this inflammation. My 12-13yo girl does same w/ the yowl/cry & vomits maybe once or 2x/wk. I will keep eye on this. Her bloodwork in May was normal. Nothing major going on just aging, said vet. Anyone know re IBD & excess protein causing it?

The vet can do an ultrasound and / or biopsy to determine if the cat has IBD or other gastrointestinal issue. Blood work won't show IBD or anything like that.

Yowling and vomiting are pretty non-specific and can indicate any number of things. You can seek out another vet for a second opinion if you wish.

Some proteins may cause a flare up in IBD cats. Chicken is often trigger. Some IBD cats can't eat any poultry.

There is general info about IBD and common symptoms and treatment options here: About IBD – IBDKitties
