I'm still terrified and not know if I'll be unlucky. It's the cost though as well to get an Uber. My mom went with me to animal er once and it was about 40 dollars back and forth that's about 80 dollars. Since it's far it could cost 80-90 dollars to get there and back 😭 it would suck if I went there and find out I would not afford the treatment
Yeah. I understand. Hopefully your DVM will just give you some prednisone and you can see if it helps her. Whatever is causing it. I think the prednisone may help. Hopefully I’m hoping that it will just clear up on its own and it’s not a tumor or anything serious. Also you could look into just getting the test for the other thing that was mentioned…I can’t remember the name of it now….I’m sure your regular Dvm can do that. Your regular Dvm should be able to do an x-ray too. If they’re not willing to do this, I recommend finding another regular DVM, which is closer to you if there are no specialists or Internists close to you.

There is no shame in not doing an MRI.

I had a great cat with chronic respiratory disease. I went as far as scheduling it but backed out at the last minute. I honestly didn’t want him anesthetized. Also, I didn’t see the point in it. I had done all other diagnostics and felt that whatever was causing it wouldn’t be treatable beyond what I was already doing. At that time, back in 2010, with my professional discount it was going to be $1,000.00.

It wouldn’t have affected the outcome with my cat. It just would have given me more information, hopefully.

You do the best you can within reason. But you have to weigh the risks with the benefits.
If the outcome of the MRI wont change the treatment then, is it worth the stress to your cat?

Yeah I'll see if I could do those test or get them to let have predisone. I'm hoping it's just vestibular thing and the head tilt is just a side effect

I got predislone if I spelled it right. Does it cure cancer or just suppress it. I have no idea how it works. I wish they given me pill version. I saw on chewy it's 7 dollars , is that actually for the 30 supply

You can ask your vet for the pill version and also ask that they call in the prescription to Chewy. If they don't, Chewy will let you order it and then will contact the vet for you. It is probably prednisolone which is the formulation used with cats.

Pred can reduce inflammation or swelling associated with cancer and make the pet feel better. With a few cancers, it can shrink tumors but this is not usually a cure.

Your questions are good ones and your vet should not hesitate to help you understand your cat's treatment.

So it will still give her a short time of life then. Was hoping it's a cure. She still has an appetite so seems she still has that quality of life in her still.

Pred can be very effective and can help cats with certain cancers to continue on for a few years. It can also enhance their quality of life and make that time easier for them.

Hi. You don’t know for sure what is causing this. But, the Prednisolone should reduce inflammation. That often times helps them feel better.

I can't tell if she is pain since they could hide it. Last night she must have been comfortable and kneaded on me and purring.

Today she is showing signs of discomfort. I don't think steroids are helping. I'm afraid it may be her time to go. She is pacing around and do little runs. Her head twitch before she did a little run. 😭😭😭
I'm so upset

It was a focal seizure and turn into a seizure. She seems okay. I'm hoping it was her normal seizures she had since 2011. I'm still hoping she has no brain tumor and just a permanent head tilt.
She ate after that seizure and is calm now.

My cat had another seizure. I don't know if this is dangerous now. She has medication but if it's the brain tumor fault I have no idea on how much her body can handle

She's on phenobarbital. She only had 2 seizure. She seems okay now and good appetite. I guess I'm a worry wart

Sadly seizures are now coming often. I'm trying full dose of it now. If no improvement I may have to let her go 💔
I only got steriod for the weekend so she won't be in pain. If this seizure comes again then I guess the vet guessed right and it's a brain tumor.
I'm very sad and don't want her to suffer. She had a good 17 years being spoiled
