I miss the outdoors/travelling (especially the beach!), my family and friends, central London (never thought I'd say this, because in regular times I always find the tourist spots of my city overrated, but I do really miss them now and understand why everyone raves about them!), my favourite cafes/restaurants and work. A lot of things.

I miss just being around other people. Strangers, friends, family, whoever. I miss having other human being around me.

I also miss being at school. Even though I don't have a lot of friends or talk to many people, it was still nice to sit and listen to conversations or having a class together.

I miss going horse riding. We used to go riding once or twice a month, but we always took a few months off in the big snow season. We usually start riding at the beginning of March, weather permitting, but the last time I went was October. I miss the ponies.

:sigh:

I wonder if being on a horse back in a forest violates the social distancing guidelines?

I miss just being able to buy whatever I need whenever I need it.

It's so frustrating to stand in line for an hour or two just to get inside the store, only to find out that they don't have what you need. So you go somewhere else and stand in another line, and that store doesn't have it either -- or the store after that, or the store after that, etc. And after all that time and trouble, sometimes you still come home empty handed.

I also miss being around people, especially those brief encounters with total strangers. We're very friendly folk here in our little corner of the universe, and you can have some of the most interesting and helpful conversations with people you've just met. Well, maybe I didn't really need to know that that nice elderly man on the cookie aisle was buying fig newtons because it's the only thing that helps to keep him regular. But I do think it's sweet that people are so eager to share their knowledge and life experiences with total strangers, and by the time you part ways, you feel like you're saying goodbye to an old friend. :)

I really miss my nearly daily thrift shopping. There are a few thing I could use that I know I could have gotten there, like a heavy duty stapler to make masks, that I have had to spend more for on EBay. And it would be wonderful not to feel so nervous going into any shop. But mostly I hate not being able to give my son a hug and having to stay across the room from him when we see one another.

I miss my computer. It's on the fritz, and Best Buy isn't taking repairs. I spend a lot of time on it, and it could be months before I can get it fixed.

What is it doing, or not doing?
It's not doing anything. Initially, it wasn't sending a signal to the monitor, so I checked that out. Nada. Then I noticed that when I turned it on, none of the boot-up software was running. The last Windows update didn't load properly, and as it's a 10-year-old computer, I'm afraid it may have crashed from that update.

Mine is also around ten, running Windows 7. After an update a few months ago I also had mine crash. I did some research on the web and was finally able to open the computer and do a system restore. It tried and said it didn’t work but after shutting the computer down and then reopening it I got Windows back. It’s researching to see if a system restore would work for you too and how to get to it.

I wouldn't know how to do that. I'm all thumbs with hardware. But it's good to know that all is not lost. Desktops are so cheap now I've considered just buying a new CPU, but I would lose everything on my current one. Thanks for your help.

If you do decide to buy a new one, don’t throw your old out. You maybe able to bring it in and have the data on the old extracted and moved to your new computer.

Yes, they've always done that before. I've got two old hard drives in a drawer. I've got a contract with Best Buy, though, and any repair is free except for parts. Best money I've ever spent. Not a year goes by that I don't use it. Anyway, I'd rather wait if the lockdown doesn't last too long.

I miss getting my hair cut. I miss going into Jersey Mike's with hubby and sitting in a booth. I miss going into grocery stores to pick out my own groceries. I miss my second monitor that I use at work. Other than that, not really missing too much.
