Giving my car sub-q's has made a huge difference in his life and he has been getting them for the last few years. I strongly believe that anyone giving their pets a sub-q should go to a vet and have them check your pet over and give you a recommendation of how much he/she needs. The size/frequency have varied as he has gotten older and he is currently getting 150ml every day and he is a 3.1 kg cat. Anyone can do these at home and if you take the effort to heat up the liquid it is not very stressful for the cat. My guy purrs through them every day and for the most part I don't have to chase him down to give them to him. As cats age their skin loses elasticity so the skin twisting test does not always work so you can always put your finger in their cheek pouch and check for moisture there, it should be the same as you.
