I am so happy to hear you have more energy! I imagine it's likely a mixture of the walking and antioxidant, but whatever it is, I hope it keeps up. It must be great to be feeling more like yourself again!

I know nothing about dogs so have no advice there.

Your sister can get some Capstar to give to the dog before she takes him anywhere. It'll kill whatever fleas are on him at the time, sure it only lasts 24 hours but if she's taking him somewhere else that should be enough.

It's alarmingly satisfying (and disgusting) to give a Capstar to an infested animal and then watch the fleas just start falling off. . .
I just went to amazon, and saw two posts of cats that had died with this medicine. :sigh: Always makes me anxious to read things like that. :sigh: Even though i know i was researching for a dog, still made me sad to read that. Had to click away fast lol.

Thank you for the help! Every time i research different flea meds i always run into posts like that.

Right, Talien Talien . And yes, once you get the fleas eradicated with a topical (PLEASE do not get Bravecto. It is extremely dangerous. You can google that. Also anything Hartz makes.) and keep administering it as directed, you should not have a flea problem. You can "bomb" the garage (without him in it!) and then all should be well on that front. It's not only crucial for him, it's crucial for all of you. Fleas carry diseases. Advantage is my trusted brand. They have a dog version too.
Can you put something over the area so that your nephew cannot access? Also, crucial.
Yes, I've read that there was Jewish emigration to Cuba, and all around the "Americas" in part because the US was turning Jewish people from Europe back in the aftermath of WWII. You can also google that shameful and unforgivable topic.
Good on you for the cleaning! And in no way should you be ashamed or feel "weak". You are doing the best you can. That is all anyone on this earth can do.
Dont worry, i always google before using any product on the pets. I just dont know if they will help with buying the products. I cant be overly spending as i am saving up for my own things/things i need for my own cats.

The only thing they have bought is this product from walmart: Natural Care Flea and Tick Home Spray. They've been spraying it on the dog and garage. Theres lots of dead fleas\ticks. But still plenty that are alive. Dont know much about the product. They havent bought any topical flea medicine though. Now that my nieces BF is sick i dont think they'll be spending on the dog.

Not sure what i can put to stop my nephew from going in. Kitty is chubby and just manages to fit into the gate. I cant make the door smaller. Unless i put something on the gate so he cant see them easily so he wont think about going in. Hes still so obsessed with the cats. i cant sit down in the kitchen in peace, because Kitty approaches me for attention and he obsessively chases after her.

That happens sometimes if a particular flea treatment is overused by people in an area, the flea population builds up a resistance to it. I remember hearing about that from someone else I know who lives in Florida and a few other people here who live in florida have posted that those brands have stopped working for them. Revolution should still work, and like Willowy mentioned Capstar should work too.

Do you think you'd be able to light a fire under your sister about it? Fleas will start going after people too when they multiply enough, so everyone in that house is a food source for them.
I will try talking to her. I dont see them spending the extra money on revolution. I think its more expensive that those two brands? At least thats what i remember. Let me see what she says.

Thank you! I hated the way i have been feeling this past year. At my age it felt scary to be stuck in bed and in pain. I was starting to remind myself of my mom. She was twice my age when she passed, and was constantly in bed and in pain (we didnt know she had cancer until the last 3 months of her life.) So my mindset/ physical health has been really great recently. :heartshape:

There are people who have drowned while drinking a glass of water. Anything you find will have a few bad reviews/experiences. Capstar is very safe and also dogs aren't as sensitive as cats anyway. Mainly, it's widely available (Walmart and TSC have it for sure, some grocery stores too), not very expensive, and kills lots of fleas very quickly. I always give one to my pets after they get home from the vet (or boarding for the dogs) so as not to start an infestation.

Since it doesn't need long to work, my thought was that your sister could give it to him before taking him, instead of having to wait for a spot-on to work, or relying on your niece to buy any flea products.

It is more expensive, and it's only available in the US with a prescription. But it does also protect from heartworm and a couple other parasites too, though if I remember right it doesn't kill adult heartworms so if an animal already has it it won't do any good there.

Thats true. I will let my sister know so that she knows its an option. Thanks again for the help. :heartshape:

We would need to take him to the vet to get a prescription then. He hasnt been to a vet in years.

I do love revolution tho, its what i use for my cats.

He
thank you. I needed to hear that. I tend to panic before things happen. I've lived with family all my life. I'm just done with the arguments, the drama, and the pettiness. Just want some peace in my life.

I've started looking for work further up in Florida. I've been so determined to live close to my sister, and an 8 year old niece. i promised my mom i would stay close to my niece. But i have to start thinking about what's best for me. Wherever the door opens is where im going.
y hang in there, right now is not forever.

Well.....that's why I specifically mentioned it needs a prescription in the US. I've seen several people posting that you can buy it online from other countries without a prescription. But who knows how long it would take to be shipped, especially with what's going on now.

A couple of weeks back my nieces boyfriend had a big fight with my niece about the dog. He isn't working (for the past few weeks) due to health issues. But he decided to finally step up for the dog. Bought some flea med, flea spray for the house. The fleas are starting to die.

The garage was so full of fleas they were crawling into containers. Had to toss my cats carriers. It's frustrating.

but they finally decided to take care of him. They tied him up on the front porch so he's out of that hot garage. He's happier now. He isn't desperately itching anymore.

my niece acted like the victim saying she couldn't help the dog without money... but her BF gives her cash all the time. She can skip buying useless stuff for her kid and use it on the dog. Shes so delusional she bought her child a $72 bear for his birthday. :frustrated:

I'm glad the BF cares.

You're on my mind and in my Prayers daily, terestrife terestrife and family. Wondering how you and your sweet cats are doing.
Hi! Thank you for checking up on me. It's been busy these past couple of weeks. We've been trying to get rid of the fleas in the garage. Had to toss so many things that were ruined by the fleas, and the water my nieces BF was throwing in the garage.

It was disgusting they were crawling all over the walls and inside closed containers.

My youngest niece is visiting so I've been spending time with her. :hearthrob: this Friday is the birthday of my nephew (the baby i live with. )

The kitties are doing well thankfully.

VERY glad to see those sweet little catfaces!!! We can never get enough pix.
Well, some progress, anyway, right? So sorry you had to throw out your cat carriers! There should have been a way to fumigate those, whether with a spray or a "bomb". Hope you can get more carriers quickly as those are absolutely essential.
*PRAYERS* and hope for poor dog.

I know. But id rather just buy new than risk it. I might buy a pet stroller since my back pain has gotten worse. I already have something i use in my car. Its a tunnel kennel, big enough to fit them both and a litter box. Just need something to get them into their vet.

Been worried because my nieces bf had to quit his job. He went to the hospital twice with pains in his kidneys.

My niece is looking for work (so he can stay home with the baby) , but he's insisting that he can still work. They're having money issues and my niece insists in birthday gifts for her son. A small party tomorrow, and a party with the family on Saturday. Buying gifts that aren't cheap.

The bf doesnt want to spend money on a specialist for his kidneys. Their priorities are so messed up. I just don't get it.

I'm glad the dog is doing a bit better, but too bad about your carriers.

Glad to hear from you!
Thank you! I was missing you all. :heartshape:

Good to hear that the poor Dog isn't being slowly killed by fleas now.
The funny thing is, i had told my niece the fleas could kill spooky. She said she knew, but then she immediately said they could hurt us too, with a more concerned voice. Almost like she brushed off the risk to him. She's been acting concerned about him, but to be honest i don't buy it.

I have been busy dealing with a flea/tick infestation we are going through. Its pretty bad, all the treatments we are using dont seem to be phasing them much. Spooky is doing better now that hes on his flea medicine. They even treated the grass.

But the garage is full of fleas and ticks. They snuck into the house using an air vent in the bathroom. So, now they are discussing looking for pest control companies. I want the bugs gone, but its a stress that i might need to leave the house for a few hours (days?) I dont have money to be going to hotels. Plus, Kitty becomes so stressed whenever we leave the house. Its a hassle to take her anywhere.

Not sure whats going to happen.

They expect to get rid of a huge infestation quickly, but ive read it can take months. It angers me that my niece isnt taking ownership of this. She says that in the past her mom would help her buy it and apply it on the dog. She says that its her BFs fault for not giving her money for the flea medicine for the dog... And yet i see her with cash all the time buying useless junk for her child. An 80$ bear, and a 60$ record player. Clothes that are expensive when she can just shop clearance or sales. She could have bought it at any moment. But she acts like she did nothing wrong.

I have to go through the garage, i have a bunch of containers, things that would be useful if i move. I am not sure what to do with them. I was tempted to go through them and rent out a storage unit. But then i am wasting money, instead of saving. I need to see if the ticks managed to get into the bigger containers, which is possible as they got into the smaller ones i had. I have so much stuff unfortunately. :sigh:

This is going to make me sound awful, but her BF was offered a job where he is going to another state for 6 months. My niece wants to stay here instead of following him. But i kind of hope she follows him just so i wont have to deal with them and their issues. I am trying to give her neutral advice as i dont want the guilt if she ends up hating it over there. But i would love for them to leave. Just no idea how this house would be paid for without them. :sigh:

P.s. finally bought my cats their carriers:

Cute carriers! It looks like they might have a shoulder strap attachment? I'm thinking that might be good with your back issues.

Yes, they do. i had intended to get a pet stroller, but they're very expensive. They're only going to be in the carrier during their one year check up. Once money is more stable I'll get the stroller.

My carrier has a shoulder strap. I love it so much more than the first one I bought quickly just to bring Lelia home that only has a handle. It really ought to be a standard feature.

I agree. As well as the opening on the top should be included in every carrier. Its so much easier to get them out my vet told me.

My old carriers were very uncomfortable. I had a big one that looked like a bookbag with wheels, but Kitty is so heavy it would fall over lol. Elsas didnt have the top opening, so it was hard to get her out of the carrier at the vet.
