I use cedar (blocks, balls, things that hang on hangers, etc.) to try to repel bugs in my closets and dresser drawers. It never occurred to me that it might be bad for cats. Should I get rid of everything cedar? If so, what else can I use to repel bugs? I vacuum very often already...

It depends on the species of cedar. Some species are. Some species are not.

It also depends on where and how the cedar is used.
If it is solid blocks, pieces or planks made of cedar there will be less likelihood of problems. Cedar oil or powder/dust will be more likely to cause problems.

If a cat tends to bite or chew on the cedar wood, that could be a problem, as well.

So... If you have a "good" species of cedar that doesn't cause problems, if it is solid wood and it is placed out of harm's way, the chances of problems is small to non-existent.

Closet hangers made of cedar, cedar blocks in your clothes storage and things like that should not cause problems as long as your cat doesn't get into them.

Keep your cedar out of the cat's reach and you should be okay.
