Hi there! I did search for Apoquel in the search and I was wondering if anyone has some more recent experience?
There is a specialty for many different areas of veterinary medicine just like us humans. We had to have a biopsy done for our dog because of how his skin was affected and the regular vet was stumped. He said in his 30 years of medicine he'd never seen anything like it. The veterinary dermatology specialist literally and figuratively saved his life and gave us 13 more wonderful years with him. They were in contact with both the U of CA, Davis and U of PA who had both done extensive research on his condition.Veterinary Dermatologist ? Really. I've never heard of such a speciality.
Maybe that's a specialty found in California but unlikely found in Iowa. There is a specialty for many different areas of veterinary medicine just like us humans. Actually Iowa has several different locations as mrw5641 mentioned in the above post. Here's the link for Iowa: acvd.org | Home | Veterinarians with specialized training in skin, ears, and allergyMaybe that's a specialty found in California but unlikely found in Iowa.
Fortunately I'm not in need of that service. As the closed Veterinarian listed is a 3 hour drive.Actually Iowa has several different locations as mrw5641 mentioned in the above post. Here's the link for Iowa: acvd.org | Home | Veterinarians with specialized training in skin, ears, and allergy
I'm not in Iowa but I am in the midwest where many of the board certified speciality centers are affiliated with a university medical veterinary hospital.
Hi there. Yes, she is under the care of a dermatologist — that is who put her on the Apoquel to get some relief. We are doing regular skin scrapes to check for bacterial changes. The last resort is the lengthy and expensive allergy immunotherapy, but I hope it doesn’t come to that. I feel like I’m looking for a needle in a haystack.
