Hi friends, I hope all of you are doing well. Especially with all thats going on in this world right now.
It's been a really long time, so I thought it was time for an update. As many of you know, almost 2 yrs ago now, I unexpectedly had to move from where I lived for a little over 20 yrs. With things being so expensive here in a coastal & college town, and no roomate options, I had no choice but to move back in with my parents at 48 yrs old! It was not easy to say the least! One positive thing that came of it though, was that I was finally able to get that care credit paid off! I was greatful for it, to help when my kitties were sick, (& some dental for me), but I really never want to have to use that again!! Anyway........... fast forward, & I FINALLY found a place!! It only took me 20 months! Its at the top of my budget, but I found a place I could afford on my own.
Its an old condo. There are 7 building here. Four places per building. 2 up & 2 down.
I am on an end unit, which is nice, & downstairs. One of my cousins is retired, & was doing some paint trim work for the landlord, a guy from her church, so she asked about it for me & texted me about it. It was definitely very different when I first saw it! New flooring was coming, so it was all cement, & definitely needed to be cleaned!
Knowing I'd been looking for so long, & not finding anything, I applied & got it! That was March. But then with all of the covid stuff starting, I stayed at my parents for a little longer. I also wanted to get everything set up as much as possible before actually moving in, so I wouldn't be overwhelmed & more stressed. So I came every afternoon after working, & all day on Saturdays to get it all done. Although the movers moved everything from storage on March 14th, My official move in was April 4th.
He originally said no pets, but my cousin asked him about it, knew I'd want another kitty some day, & assured him of how clean I keep things. (Ummm, hello, I have my own cleaning business). So he said he'd allow it, but with a non refundable $200 deposit, & rent would be $25 extra a month! SO, that sucks!!! Its already at the top of my budget, and $25/ mo extra, on top of Good food for a kitty, as well as vet care, etc... I just can't do it. Not now. Now that he's seen how clean & nice I keep it here, I would ask if he'd consider just the deposit & not any extra $ a month. I just don't know that he'd do it, seeing that he didn't want pets here to begin with. I don't know...
But...there are two strays that have shown up. A tortie girl & a long black male.
I swore I wasn't going to start feeding them. They both seemed fed, not skinny or anything. They are skiddish though. They won't get close enough to pet. I got the cat bowls out & keep a bowl of fresh water out there for them. I finally broke down & bought treats. Even before then though, they were hanging out quite a bit. The girl upstairs said the older cpl who lived here before fed them. I wasn't sure how often, but didn't want to take a chance they may be hungry, so I bought some food. The grocery store had friskies on sale, 10/$6, so I got 12. Then the girl upstairs left a box of 40 by my door w/ a note. Said, "for the outside cats." & Her # . I texted her thank you, & how sweet & thoughtful it was, & that I really appreciated it. She said she knows how it can add up, & thanked me for my labor of love. That was so nice.
So, they get a can each for breakfast & dinner. That's 4 cans/ day! I may end up having to switch one meal to dry, but we'll see. I just opened the 40 pk yesterday.
The tortie looks as if she has been TNR'd, ( thankfully!!). But he needs to be. If I can find anyone doing it now. With the virus stuff changing things & being kitten season, its if I can even get ahold of someone...... They dissapear under the fence behind me. There's a house w/ a tarp & a tree on the roof from one of the storms last yr. I wonder if they sleep there.
They seem to be somewhere around 3 or 4?? (I've actually caught him playing with the leaves, πŸ˜„ He tries to chase & play w/ her, but she wants no part of it).
Don't know, hard to really tell age. But they have seemed to manage together so far, so that makes me feel better. I think they're sweet, but just skiddish. Maybe one day they'll trust me enough to allow me close enough to pet w/ o the screen door between us. I also Finally gave them names. Honey, because she has so much of that color in her, under her neck & her bk right foot, and for him, Panther!

So my friend's, thats the (sorry so long, but so much to tell) update!
I'm still around here & there. I don't poste as much, but still checking in from time to time. 😊β™₯

Here's my place! This is the day before mother's day, so the table is set for that. My sister & I did brunch for our mom. The spare rm is more together now, I'll post video of that too. The pc of iron I painted, setting in front of the fireplace is supposed to go up on the mantle, I just wanted to get some bracket's first for extra support.. just in case! Its really Heavy!!
Also Finally found teal candles for the holders up there.

Lovely update, so pleased you have your own place which is immaculate and cosy. Be happy there. I hope the cats realise you are their best friend although they look very comfortable with you already.

Oh, I'm so happy for you! Congratulations! It's a really lovely, spacious place. Immaculately decorated. And purrfect for a feline furbaby or two. Which I see Angel and Sammie have already sent your way. :catlove: :petcat: :heartshape:

Aww, thanks you guys. Yes, I'm sure they did. They thought momma needed some kitty company! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’™β€

Almost everything is the same from my old place, except the table, got the bigger one on nextdoor for FREE! Wanted one, so I could have a holiday over here & take some off my moms plate. The rug I had been looking at, at Target for s year, so was happy to get that, and it was $20 off on sale when I finally went to buy it!! I LOVE IT Its worth every penny, so plush!! It was my splurge!

It took me a little while to settle in with it. I just kept thinking of A artiesmom , Cindy, when she had to move. They are weird in the way that there's no bathroom closets, or even a linen closet instead! 🀷 I definitely think more women need to design these places. They would think of those things!
So, thats why I kept the white cabinet I had in my office. I use it as my linen "closet." Sheets, towels, & blankets. There's also the two separate ("his & hers" I guess) with 3 feet of wasted space between, that could have been one big closet. No outside closet storage either, so thats a lot of whats in the other rooms closets. I had to even keep my Christmas stuff at my parents, in my mom's shed. So at least I only have to to get that once a yr. Massage table is in its case under my bed. That's why its on risers, besides better on my low back. The longer bed skirt I ordered should be here in a cpl of wks. With the bathrooms also not having any drawers, etc.. for storage, I had to look for something for that. The little chest of drawers at the end of my bed wall is for that. Found it on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $174! Have blow dryer, irons in a drawer, brushes in another, first aid in one, nail polishes etc in another..... So its great.
I also wanted a new dresser instead of two tall ones. I found the new one at big lots for only $179! I love it. I still have to use the one in the other rm, but thats ok. The rooms are to small for both. Only 10x12!
But.....it is some answered prayers as well. Being 2 bdrm/ 2 bthrm. Even though I don't use my shower, (to narrow, & no where to prop foot for shaving), so I just keep toilet paper & cleaner in there. 😁 I also love that it has new floors. I love this tanish/ grayish color laminate wood. I saw the girl upstairs place, & she painted the tile around the fireplace & hearth white. It looks SO much better!! Im going to see if my landlord will let me. She used fireplace paint, & said I could use the rest if he does.😁. The two upstairs are owned & we two downstairs are rental. I do like the little desk nook too!
As well as the kitchen window. I spent an hour up there cleaning it out! Last people had a cat & dog, & weren't supposed to.
It was "supposedly" cleaned before I moved in, buuuuut........Of course I had to clean it really good, to bring it up toy level of clean!
I told the property management that I hate to throw someone in the same buissines under the bus, but Im sure they paid a lot, & I wouldn't have hired her. Im sure they didn't chk behind her. The tub had a film like she didn't rinse comet very well or something, & just other things not very clean. My mom scrubbed the over racks for me.
But, all is clean, & I am finally settled in!

Thanks you guys!
I do wanna to try & get Panther TNR'd. Like I Said, If I can get a hold of anyone doing it now. Most places just have a msg saying they are sorry, but are full right now. Even though they ate pretty skiddish, I think if a foster could work with them, ( it'd probably take a good while) ,they'd be adoptable. It'd be great if they could stay together, but I know its hard to do that. I just haven't had time to really focus on trying to find someone. Besides working, I was rear-ended by a teenager on April 1st, so have been going to the Chiropractor twice/ wk ever since! (I already had issues w/ L 4 & 5, degenerating disk, etc.... Then this caused issues/ spasm at T8, but that's gotten better). Then, also trying go get an ultrasound scheduled. I had an endometrio biopsy in Feb. Because before & sometimes during my period, I've gotten pretty bad pain in my right ovary! The biopsy showed there was an endometrio polyp. So we'll see what will happen with that. (At 50, definitely thinking im starting perimenapause! I usually go 20 days between, but last month was a whole wk early at only 13 days!!!). The chiropractor had a great live line called Standard Process. ( For people, & her 4 legged patients) 😊 So she muscle tested me, & gave me something called ovex. She said hopefully that will take care of it. πŸ™πŸ€ž
So, there's a lot going on!
sorry TMI, but you ladies know how it is.

Awww! They are so cute together.

Some of my girls act like that around their favourite boys too. All loving for a whole minute, then give them a slap to keep them in line.

LOL! Thanks neely! We'll see of its "officially begun," or if its just the endometrio polyp found in the biopsy.
I have an appointment with a specialist next month, so an ultrasound should be happening soon after.

πŸ€”We should start a thread for anyone who wants to share their menapaus story. I think it'd be interesting info. My mom, as well as most of her sisters had hysterectomies because of endometriosis, so my sister & I have no "family point of reference" so to speak. I know everyone is different, but it would still be good info. πŸ™ƒ

Morning, thought I'd share a couple of pictures from this morning. 😊

After getting up, came out of the bathroom to see this. Lol!

Then, had put a litter box (all I had) out there, so they'd both have a bed, & just saw this a few mins ago πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•
