I've seen a few people mention contacting Universities with their cat health issues; has anyone found that Universities are a actually a good resource or that they are more advanced with research and technology? Thank you.

Any veterinary school should be a wealth of information and resource. Their web sites typically have a pet owners section. Some veterinary schools have an on site vet clinic for pet owners.

My vet has contacted a university on my behalf to find an answer to something he didnt know. They should have all the up to date information on treatment etc.

Please understand that not all universities have a veterinary medical school. I see that you're in NY and Cornell in Ithaca has an excellent reputation for it's veterinary medical school.

Here is an up to date list of veterinary medical schools:

I think the answer depends on the country and university. Another thing that depends on the country but I know sometimes is the reason why some people suggest university hospitals is because they charge less or not at all.
