Does anyone know of a litter that absorbs pees extremely quickly??? Like SUPER fast?? That ideally is not super dusty but also clumping and *not* pellets.

I use World’s Best and love it but one of my cats, Moose, squats way too low when he pees. It doesn’t absorb fast enough and then he gets pee all over his back legs and bum…. It’s pretty nasty and I am wondering if a litter switch could help, else he’ll just be a pissbottom forever :bawling:

I don't know if it's available outside Australia, but this one ticks all those boxes for me. Not sure what you mean by pellets, though.

OOOOH I have heard about Dr Elsy’s but totally forgot it existed!! I will see where I can get it and give it a try.

I am quite hesitant to use a clay litter though as my newest rescue Egg is known to “sample” the World’s Best. He likely just does that because it’s corn, and thankfully it’s safe, but if he tried it with clay we’d have a problem so I’d have to be very careful introducing any clay based litter.

I use Dr. Elsey and have a couple of "low" eliminators but have not had a problem with anything sticking to them. Yes, it is very heavy but it also continues to clump for a long time.

I like crystal litter, but only the micro beads, not the chunks with sharp edges.

arm and hammer or tidy cats a close shave of his rear end hairs would probably help alot more
shaving would only make him more likely to get urine scalding unfortunately, since he would still get pee all over himself, he doesn’t pee like a normal cat, there is no space between him and the litter, he presses his whole back half down into the litter and then it pools because it doesn’t absorb quickly enough (his pees are gigantic) and he gets his butt/thighs and sometimes even part of his tummy covered in wee, he’s a strange bean :sigh:

Can you put more litter in the box? It sounds like his pee is pooling and a bit more litter might help. The pee might go through the first bit and then soak up near the bottom.

Alternatively, my other suggestion would be to get something like the oko paper pellets and put them under the regular litter to help as a fast soak. They arent clumping though. But it would be a thin lawyer and your cat wouldn't have to touch then much. As Nobel aged it was the only litter that wouldn't give him pee feet. He would hold his pee as he was sore and then it would pool and wet his feet.

I am going to start with putting a lot more litter in the box and see if that helps, as I am very wary of trying new litters due to both boys having PICA tendencies lol, thank you all!
