Little bit of a bonding set back, the twins got a little too aggressive. My Dad was supervising their face time and sprayed them with a hose to separate. A little much if yoy ask me, but he said that he had to respray them again because they went after each other again. Gladys apparently got it the worst so I just got home and will make sure she's dry before it gets too dark. There are some people that say to bond bunnies just stick them together and squirt them with a spray bottle if they get too aggressive until they give up. It's not a major set back just a slow down, we didnt have any bleeding. Tomorrow will be another fence between them day and face time will wait for a few days to let them settle. Hopefully the buns just curse the water hose for today's misadventure.

And both buns were mostly dry when I checked them. Gladys got some cuddles and rubs to dry off the last bit of water. She throughly enjoyed the cuddles. They both got biscuits and a strawberry off one of our plants too. Tomorrow is a new day and I am optimistic that it's just a slight setback.

How did the twins do over the weekend? I hope their relationship is improving and neither one is acting too bossy. :crossfingers:

They are having a good weekend. There is still a little bunny boxing at the fence so we haven't tried letting them share space yet. I am thinking I might get a pet stroller and try some stress bonding by taking them on a walk around the block.

We had some pretty heavy rain last night and Gladys said she didn't want to play in the mud and wet grass. Mostly by avoiding being caught and not wanting us to pet her even. We will give her some space today and let her decompress. So she's staying in the rabito today and Frodo gets the yard all alone.

Gladys got a strawberry plant and blackberry to munch on while she relaxes.

Frodo decided to take the opportunity to check out the roof and, of course, what he could eat from the roof.

How does Frodo access the roof, Kieka Kieka ?
He jumps from a bush next to the hutch then onto the roof. You can see the main bush under the hanging plant that he is munching on in one of the photos. We've thought about moving it but anywhere else would be closer to the fence which gives them a jump over the fence option. And removing them entirely takes away shelter and shade which is also not a great idea. He jumped off of the highest point of the roof which gave me a heart attack.

We worked more on bonding this weekend. We did some lighr stressing before putting them together (walking with them in a carrier together for 5 minutes before going in the neutral space). The idea being, light stress will make them realize the other isn’t a danger and trigger seeking comfort from each other. Things were looking promising in the small space; grooming and eating together. But when I moved them into a larger space they bunny tornadoed again. Bunny tornado being when they chase each other in a tight circle until they are wrestling on the ground. Which was what triggered the hose instance before; no hoses involved this time because i just grabbed the first rabbit i could out of it. :sigh: They were okay for a little in the big space but I turned my back for a minute then fur was flying. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt so maybe next weekend I will have more luck.

I did call the professional bun bonder and since the twins go outside they aren't eligible for a week long bonding off site (RHDV2 concerns). But I can do zoom meetings with the bonding specialist. I might give them a few weeks to make sure there is no lasting hard feelings before trying again. I want them together, but I can't rush them.

Roses were blooming at my house this weekend so both the children got several roses to snack on. Gladys isn't a fan of dried roses but she adores the fresh ones. Roses are high in moisture, vitamin c and micronutrients so a good seasonal treat (just don't feed one's from floral arrangements because chemicals are not good).

Frodo nearly gave me a heart attack because he's decided running on the roof of the hutch and eating the tree are fun.

Frodo did get annoyed with me one day that I was taking to long to feed him. For the record, is was 2pm and I was just reading a book on the porch. Going outside does not always mean the bunny gets food..... just most of the time.

Also just an Easter reminder, please don't gift rabbits to children or get a rabbit unless you've done your research. Rabbits are expensive and require just as much attention as a dog or cat. Their medical care is more expensive and harder to find. They need a specialized diet and most pet stores in the US do not have the best products so I frequently am buying from the UK and specialty stores. They are destructive and easily bored. They can be wonderful pets but they aren't easy pets.

I cleaned up some of my older potted veggies for the kids and Gladys got an accidental giant parsley plant. Accidentally because I had dumped the dirt from a few pots into one and the plant grew back from its roots. I didn't even notice until today. The plant even had some flowers and woody stalks. Gladys was thrilled.

The twins got an Easter weekend treat of carrot tops with the carrot still attached. Contrary to what Bugs Bunny would have you believe, carrots are a treat for rabbits and shouldn't be part of their regular diet. Carrots are pretty high in sugars and belong with fruits as a once in a while treat.
