The demon spawn has a litter box full of good looking poop and a good appetite. She got a branch of our blackberry plant just to check. And yes, it has thorns. Rabbits can eat plants with thorns. Which I am taking as more proof of her origins right now.

Please note, I do love Gladys and I don't literally think she is demon spawn. It's a very loving cursing her name going on right now. I was fully aware of how destructive rabbits can be before I got her and was ready for it. Well as ready as someone can be, everytime she does something I just shake my head as I clean up after her.

The twins had their first grooming appointment ever today. The girl doing their grooming said that both were really well behaved and great during their appointments. I could have sworn the girl grooming them was wearing a black shirt but it was grey when she brought them back after (so much fluff). They got brushed, nails trimmed, scent glands cleaned and ear, teeth and eye checked.

After, they did switch areas. Neither seemed too happy, rabbits do like consistency, but Gladys needed something newish in her life. That little girl is a bundle of energy. Frodo could do with a change too.... mostly because he's killing the grass again.

Gladys seeing if she can jump the fence.

Awwww! I just got a rabbit recently, and I've really enjoyed reading about yours. I hope you will eventually be able to get the twins bonded together again. They look like a lot of fun.

What's for dinner? I realized I haven't shown what the twins dinner bowl looks like. They, of course, got fresh leafy greens. Tonight was dandelion leaves, cilantro, parsley, spinach and kale.

In their bowl:
  • 1/4 cup oxbow pellets (just enough to cover the bottom of the bowl)
  • 1 Skin, molt, shed support popper since it is shedding season. It's a handmade blend of herbs to help keep things moving in their guts.
  • 1 Herbal Crunchy which is a blend of herbs with various health benefits. A bunny multivitamin of sorts.
  • 1/4 of a Happy Belly Biscuit. Which is another blend to help maintain gut health.
  • 3 black oil sunflower seeds another shedding aid to prevent build up (sensing a theme?). Black oil are smaller than normal sunflower seeds and are the safe sunflower seeds for rabbit. They have a high oil content and thin shells. The striped sunflower seeds human eat are different. Only twice a week for this one because of fat content.
  • 2 small pieces of papaya which has enzymes to help break down hair in the gut.
  • 3 goji berries which is a super food to help their immune system in a tasty low sugar treat.
  • Pinch of burdock roots to help immune system, liver and heart health.
  • Pinch of dandelion roots to help liver, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties.
  • Pinch of rose hips for vitamin C and antioxidants.
  • Liberal pile of mixed dried plants (right now primarily apple leaves and cilantro with some small apple bits in the mix, but it varies I get focused blends along with random blends from their bunny subscription box).

Here it is all mixed up. It does look bigger because close up, the bowl is about palm size, the bright red goji berries are smaller than rasins and the round popper is maybe a penny in diameter.

It's been hot around here which means the buns are laying low to avoid the heat. Lots of stretching out on stones to cool down and drinking plenty of water. Luckily, stones and shade are plentiful in the yard.

PS, Frodo is fine, he's just been camera shy lately.

PPS, the plant she's munching on is one of Peter's old raspberry bushes (bunny who passed away got raspberry bushes when he was sick because it was all he would eat). This one got sunburned and not enough water in the last week. It's getting some bunny pruning and hopefully will come back next year.

Frodo got the other raspberry bush and I took some photos. The thing about Frodo is he is pretty skittish. He really isn't a huge people bunny so photos of him require me hanging out for a while until he calms and bribery to get him to come near. Someday I'll win him over.

It also goes to show nature over nurture because the twins were born together, raised together and have the exact same environment. But Gladys loves people and pets while Frodo could do without.

Just saw a Chewy commercial with two buns & of course, thought of you. So dam cute. I mean, cats are cute but buns are like the icing on the carrot cake of cuteness.

The twins got to try a new plant today, sweet potato vines. They also got a strawberry plant just in case they didn't like the sweet potato.

Gladys's approach to a new plant is slowly circling it and sniffing. Maybe a few delicate bits to see how it tastes.

Frodo's approach to new plant. How much can I fit in my mouth? Blurry photos because he was inhaling.

He did notice the strawberry plant I gave him too and decided to take a few bites of that too. For the quality control testing of course.

Gladys acknowledged the starwberry plant but is saving it for later.

Frodo, oh Frodo. Someday I will get that little boy to trust me but that day is not today. Today he got a brand new sweet potato vine but he knew it was a trap. I sat around for a while but he just kept circling and running away with quick nibbles. I eventually left him alone with his treat. He does know treats come from people and will gladly take treats from my hand but he still just does not trust me. Doesn’t change anything for me; I loved him from the first time I saw him. Someday he will maybe trust me enough to not immediately run away when I am around. Hopefully.... if only to make vet and grooming visits less stressful for him.

In other bun related news, I found echinacea again at the garden store! I had gotten a small plant with the twins were babies but it ended up dying. So this time in a different place and hopefully it won't die. Echinacea has all sorts of medicinal benefits for the buns so hopefully I can keep it alive this time.

I also have some goji berries on that plant. Which shocked me since it's only been planted for a few months. There is one that is just okay (first photo) but the one right next to the air conditioner unit is absolutely thriving (it's the second and third pictures, Ive trimmed it back twice). Goji is more controversial in bunny care but the twins get dried goji berries regularly. There have been some studies into goji berries benefit for meat rabbits (primarily reproductive and meat quality related) and they've all been positive. Some rabbit keepers say that goji berries help immune system and are anti-cancer/tumor that can help with inflammation. I just need to figure out how to tell if the Goji berries are ripe because they go green to red really quick and aren't ripe just because they are red.

I was just thinking about Frodo and Gladys! I saw four jackrabbits playing in the yard this afternoon, and it made me think of your buns. :redheartpump:

He's got the bearer of good treats down. I go out there and he runs to hide but perks right up if he hears the food container move or I toss something his way.
