Previously cooked chicken thigh and Alnutrin.
Trying Evengers canned rabbit with nothing in it and Alnutrin.
Marta said she wouldn't recommend "that" meat. Haven't heard back why.
Anyone know.?

I'm not sure if O is reacting to poultry late in life.
He gets B12 injections but bloats, doesn't gain weight and is constantly hungry.
His blood, urine and poo are all good as of last week. Perhaps IBD or IBS.
Waiting to discuss Omega 3 or other add to his diet.
Doesn't lose weight, but he is up to 12z of wet and 4z dry/day. He's at 8.5lbs, should be closer to 10 ...I think.

So figured I'd try a novel meat.
I suppose I could feed dry plus unaltered Evengers.

Sorry no one has responded to your post yet. I have no experience with raw or home made meals for cats. But, I will say that those who do, and even those who do not, can be very opinionated and sometimes what they think/say may apply to their cats but not others. If you like the food you are looking at, then one person suggesting something is wrong with it doesn't make it wrong for you or your cat.

Did they also check his thyroid level when they did blood work? Always being hungry, eating a lot, but not gaining weight or losing it, are the most common signs of hyperthyroidism.

heh, heh, heh. I have noticed that on previous posts.
Yes, checked for thyroid too.
Pretty sure it's IBS or IBS.

Marta (alnutrin) did get back and said it was a calcium issue with rabbit meat.
One of their blends would make too much and the other too little.
Alas the Evengers is just rabbit with no nutritional addition.
May just have to try Evengers regular version to give novel wet food a real try, just to see if his issues are the same as with poultry.
If so go back to home cooked chicken with Alnutrin.

I am surprised that Marta couldn't help what what/how much calcium to add to the 'too little' version. From what I have read, those who make their own supplements find a way to measure all the required elements, including calcium.

Maybe try a new thread specifically asking about rabbit and calcium supplements for it??

You could join this group - they seem pretty responsive, and maybe they deal with pre-cooked rabbit too? Raw Feeding for IBD Cats | Facebook. (Although, Marta might be in the group too - LOL.)

How often do you give B-12 injections? Any chance that it is too often and might have something to do with the bloating? Here is an article that talks about B-12 and the different forms which apparently contain different preservatives and maybe that attributes to the bloating factor? But, it may be the IBD/S that is causing the bloating.

This site also discusses balanced recipes for both raw and cooked proteins.

If rabbit of any brand doesn’t work you might try quail.
