Bisacodyl is not Miralax nor any other of the polyethylene glycol 3350 products like Movicol which itself does contain some other ingredients in addition to the main one.

Given that your cat has been seeing a vet, they should be informed that you are considering this since you have been using other laxatives. I'm. To bring her back to the vets tomorrow morning for another enema

Ask them about the laxative that you mentioned yesterday, bisacodyl, and also about Movicol or any other polyethylene glycol 3350 product that is sold over the counter in the UK that is safe to use for cats.

Just dropped trudy off at vets for another enema
I got a snotty vet who said absolutely full of poo, no idea why it's happening
Never happened before and she said if stretched bowel Sge won't be able to contract said could be Megacolon
She says if it happens again I should consider euthanasia!!
No way. She's only 3
Has to be something I can do
The lactoluse is awful
I can't lose her

Toby has mega colon their fault and he's doing great and he's 15

I'd be very willing to spend some time with you, if you'd like, to take a very close look at their diets.

You know, in nature, "in the wild", their diet would be quite limited:

mice
voles
sm rabbits
birds
flies
insects

ALL of the above = meat (protein+fat+water) + some stomach contents (grains/grasses+water)​

And, additionally,

grasses ......................................................... = fibre/fiber...............NOT for the cat, but IS FOOD FOR CATS' GUT BACTERIA


The further we stray from that (ancient) 'menu', the grater the chance for gastrointestinal problems.


So, C Coralcup ..............would you be interested in parsing out the fine details of exactly what is on their plates ?

My cats eat encore, scrumbles, hi life blink lily kitchen only Bruce
And webbox grain free. Mostly Toby as he refuses anything else
He's in lactoluse twice a day and a priobotic pets purest powder
They like treats. Thrice and dreamies

The odd fresh chicken, that's about it
Most of the flavour s are the same
Tuna, shrimp tuna mackerel chicken, chicken with ham chicken with cheese

Not heard from vets yet. Poor trudy
She's a 3 years old maine coon

I've only had get since last Feb 2023
Woman who had her only fed her purina kibble nothing else and she only weighed 4 kilo
She's now 7 k. Well was until got 3 colds in a row and now constipated

Vet rang. She has a serious Megacolon
They got most of the poo out, but like last time there's a piece they can't reach
They got her on a drip again
Because they left some poo in last time, 11 days ago, poo has built up and built up her colon is so stretched she can't push it out

They will keep her in and see if she can poop it out herself, if not it will be another anathestic and another enema in the morning

Even if they can get the last hard piece out, She says can't guarantee if won't re occur
And I should consider euthanasia

I asked about all those other meds and She said UK is not licensed to sell them and only lactoluse and the high fibre biscuits are what they can offer
I can't lose her
Any suggestions please
No idea, the cause of the constipation either
No obstruction just rock hard poo
Please help

Oh and the bill has doubled. Charge for overnight stays and 2nd procedure

I am not familiar with the food that you feed, but is she eating wet food only?

At least you have an answer about the other laxatives. Most sites that discuss megacolon are going to bring up the use of Miralax, so just keep reading beyond that part for other information.

It's all so upsetting
Everyone's saying get miralax, not available in UK. Ebay has it from usa but takes 4 weeks
I'm. Scared Il lose her
I lost 2 cats last year and 2 the previous year
Everything s so expensive
The cats are all I have. I live alone and have several health issues so can't work. I have very limited funds
The bills are crippling me
