Just wanted to share that the smallest Havahart trap which is 17" long was too small to trap a feral kitten.

You're welcome. I think the 24" long trap would work - tail well in if the food was at the back of the trap.

One other note. I took off the step plate and had the trigger rigged with a string which would have worked, except that the trap was so light, it moved the trap rather than tripping it. So if you use a string like I do, you'll need to anchor the 24" trap to the ground.
