Ah help?
Babies are 7 days old now
They pretty much all hit double birth weight yesterday but bella's not been drinking KMR at all and she's so small I don't think she has enough milk supply...
I say this because despite having lots of toys lots of outside the room / nest time she's not feeding the kittens enough and hasn't for the past 24 hours
I've tried syringing KMR to the kittens but I can't get them to take it.
2 kittens have lost 10g in the past 17 hours and Bella is disinterested - shell up and walk out when the kittens are mid feed...
What can I do?
I have a bottle but I have I piece the top but I don't know how much

This is a critical situation! Losing 10 grams is not good! :(

You must wrap the kittens in a towel like a burrito with only the head out. Feed tummy down, head up with the syringe in the side of the mouth. Begin feeding every 2 hours.

Is mom eating well? If not, she may need a vet check.

You'll need to close her up in a small space like a bathroom or a crate so she will feed her kittens.

We are going to lock her back upstairs
She was crying To get out into rest of house yesterday and interact but she just wouldn't look after babes.
She's eating like normal - that's not changed, poo is solid

As I type she's got three latched but the other is to one side so I'll try and feed that one
My last attempts have failed miserably

How much would you think they should eat
My KMR is beaphar kitty milk and says 3.5 x water to powder
So 100g powder and 350ml water

My syringe is in ml

How much does the kitten weigh and I can tell you how much it needs.

In the meantime, get 2-5 mLs in the kitten and try to get it to latch.

The kitten needs 4.6 mLs every 2 hours, but if also nursing mom it may drink less.

Will it latch to mom?

They'll all latch
It's just Bella let's them have maybe 2 minutes at a time
Kitten was making a hell of a row when I was trying to feed, she came over to see and I put her in the box and kitten is latched and padding for milk.

The formula seems really thick is that nktmal

She just walks around from them
I don't think they are taking anything I try to give them - they get very milky moustaches and I'm not sure its going in

Bella has been biting up get box this week too - she'll bite into the card and tear pieces off :-(

She needs to stay with her kittens. You can take her out when the kittens are sleeping for an hour here and there but she must go back.

Do not allow her to manipulate you. You run the show!

I keep putting her back in but she jumps out :-(
I'll shut them in the ensuite
I've tried to give them what I can
I think they took 2-3ml

Yes, I think closing them in the ensuite and leaving her alone for a bit is a good idea.

Like I said, take her out into the house for an hour here and there. Then put her back. That should work.

If the babies are all in the same weight range they are doing fine. The 2-week weight goal is 8 ounces, and yours are close to that already. :)

The weights are excellent!

It's good she's allowing a long feed.

See how the day goes!

I've weighed all again so they've had a long feed from mum plus around 2ml KMR and are all almost back to this mornings weights.
I'm hoping it was a blip because we'd let her socialise fully - we will keep up the KMR just in case and allow socialising as and when rather than on her terms.

With 5 kids and 4 cats (prior to kittens) the house is normally bustling and noisey so being cooped up all day in our bedroom has probably had a detrimental effect.

Fingers crossed...

Excellent news! :)

I'm sure mom would like to be out in the house with family, but it's best that she tend to her little ones for now.

It sounds like you've got a good handle on it now. Well done!

The kittens had got back up this morning to their yesterday morning good weights plus a few extra grams mainly with mum and two feeds from me (the afternoon one and the late bedtime one)

However on weighing early evening it turns out she's not fed them again today and their weights are going down again!
She's yet again refusing to get in the nest to feed them.
She will sit outside it! If I badly attempt to syringe into them they scream, she comes over sniffs them, maybe licks and walks off :-/

Do you have a crate you can put mom and the babies in for feedings? She will not be able to get away from them in the crate. She can come out between feedings.
