Tips & Advice On Cleaning Kitten Faces (shorter Muzzles And Rounded Eyes)

Less than a month ago my little Luna came into my life; he is agile, small for his age and thinks he is more leopard than kitten! He didn't have the best start to life, being abandoned at 3 weeks of age to be taken with the rubbish collection in a box - probably by a backyard breeder type (vet & shelters thoughts).
By all means he is a DSH, though with his rounded eyes, short muzzles and gorgeous coat, maybe he looks in the mirror and sees a bigger cat than he is! He has to get his attitude somewhere!

Anyway, I need a little advice & help, on how to clean these gorgeous eyes of his and little nose. His face if much flatter than my average feline companion & I hate to think of him getting infections if i'm not doing it right!
He is not the most willing participant of course & is happy to use his razor claws and ninja moves to wriggle free!!

I would love to make this experience as easy and stress free for him as possible, maybe even bonding (that'll be the day!). If anyone has any little tips & tricks they have learnt along with great products or DIY potions to keep bacteria at bay!
All advice would be appreciated, as usual here are some photos of my little feline familiar (he is currently 6 months, and his fur is really maturing beautifully! The white little tuffs I adore so much are slowly going away!)

They are called Micellar wipes, and are a makeup remover. Burt's bees, Garnier are a couple brands.

Oh that's great, thank you so much! I'll have a look for these later today.
Would you say applying with cotton buds or wipes is the way to go?
And handling wise.. at this point I have to straddle over the tiny thing to hold him in place - of course no strength is applied to his body. It's stressful for all!! Sorry for the barrage of questions, Luna is refusing my help and he definitely needs it!


Currently on a war path with one of my kitties who is sick and is REFUSING to get in any carrier. Where is my safety suit?!

Do you have any calming products? Composure has a treat variety, you could give a quarter or half a treat to see how it works. Also there are sprays, you could spray the carrier and even your clothing. At any rate, there are quite a few different products available.

Thank you for your advice - Luna and I shall get there eventually! Hopefully as he calms with age it won't be such a mission.

I actually use VitaRapid Tranquil Daily Treats and the matching supplements by Vetalogica! They work a dream on all the insane anxieties my three patients get!! (Of course today I've ran out of them with a sick kitty with probably cat flu like symptoms! Wish me amazing luck and good feelings everyone as I've never seen my little one so ill)

I will give the Composure range a go! Always on the look out on ways to make everyone's life a little easier! Thanks so much xx​

My Tommy has very sore/raw conjunctivitis & cat flu.

Luckily his lungs sound strong and it appears to be mainly concentrated around his eyes and nose, for now but hopefully does not progress! He is on two different antibiotics and we will see where we are after the weekend!
He's 7 months old and a big boy - much bigger than tiny Luna - he should be fine, though if I thought it was hard cleaning Luna's face, trying to clean and put cream on very sore eyes on my little one is a whole other thing! I found him at around 2 months old, he was a feral that I socialised, he is a lovely thing though goes into near shock if anyone puts two hands around him, let alone lifts him! So eye clean/cream is when he is sound asleep and then we can both feel horrific when he wakes, startled and dazed!

Thank you for asking lovely, he's a tough little chap and survived eating cockroaches on the streets before he strolled into my courtyard (true story). It's more me that needs the help being tough I think!
