Yep- he is something else...If he likes poultry maybe chicken baby food? I just think the smell might not be strong enough to mask gabapentin.Timmy is not food motivated like someone else I know. Chewing can be a problem too that is what turned Izzy off pill pockets. Why they she decided to chew something then who knows. Sardines are how I got antibiotics in Izzy recently but she loves fish. I don't feed her fish so it is a big thing when she is offered it.I also sprinkle cooked freeze dries chicken on top. You need something he really likes but never gets which is pretty darn difficult as he is not particularly food motivated.
Our cat Zoey was not food motivated she was attention motivated. So she would do things because she was getting attention but I never figured out a why to used that to get her to take a pill. We need to somehow figure out how to work this to what motivates him.Yep- he is something else...
Sounds like good start. You always do your best and it sounds like the opthalmologist wants to work with you and Timmy. Might be worth a try as he is a specialist. Hopefully his conversation with your regular vet is enlightening. Just want Timmy to get the help he needs.Super happy to hear that front desk person is no longer there. Love and hugsSo the Opthamologist I was supposed to see received my letter and I just got off the phone with him- he wants to see Timmy,he was very apologetic and offered to see Timmy on a morning of his surgery day so that if it's impossible for me to make that appt it will not interfere with anything and we will reschedule - there will be no charge provided he can examine Timmy - if Timmy needs sedation of course there's a charge depending on the type of sedation- he does not want to use gas becayse then the Eyes roll back snd he needs to forecep the eye,not a good choice for opthamology
As far as the front desk person & all the misinformation and discourteous treatment - well,it was not the first time and she is no longer working there- not because of me only- it was simply unacceptable and the 2 office people have all his notes on how to proceed IF they get a call to book appt for Timmy
He certainly works with fractious cats, ferals from the rescue orgs and cats that just have freak out days,if I could get 100mg gabapengin night before & 100 more 3 or 4 hrs before he should be able to examine- if not then just fo my best
Well,I know my Vet would like nothing better than for DrDylan to examine Timmy,he is the best so I think I should try again- I'm sick over what this boy is going through so all I can do is try my best..he's been trying to call my Vet so I told him where he'd be on the 30th & he's glad becsyse he wants to discuss Timmy(& the incident) with him
Yeah,I think the specialist is our best shot,I'll call tomorrow - I've got my oncology appts ,scans & all that next couple of weeks so I'll see how I can juggle all this stuff.....Sounds like good start. Dr. Dylan is absolutely right you need to take care of yourself first. It can be very hard to do but we can't lose sight of the fact if we don't we may not be able to take care of our fur kids eitherI sure hope so-DrDylan said to please put myself and my own health ahead of Timmys-I said that's hard to do ,sounds like he really knows how much this boy means to me ...
That's why I was so shocked that terrible day, this Vet is a wonderful man,he took such excellent care of Max and so kind to me when I was worried sick with that boy. Thanks toartiemom for telling me to WRITE instead of calling, that was really good advice or I'd never have considered going back to the best Veterinarian Eye Institute in South Florida!
I am so happy for you and Timmy! This Specialist sounds like such a good person. I am glad Timmy will be in his care..![]()
No need to thank me... I knew it was an injustice to both of you and needed to be addressed..
This is such a good result--- glad the front desk person got fired.. Whether it was from this situation or not, she should not be dealing with the public...
((hugs))
Yeah,he's not well.....Oh no he is vomiting? Hope that stops. Glad you got an appointment on the 29th. You are going to have a really busy couple of weeks.Hugs
I am really sorry he is not well Kwik. You are doing the best you can. Please take care of yourself. I know this is absolutely stressful. You have so much on you right now.Yeah,he's not well.....
He does but he spits out teeny pieces and if they melt in the stew he smells it - so I msy manage a quarter of a pill in some Delectable,a quarter in dome Churu,a quarter in Temptation sandwich....then he just quits eating and I wait an hour( it's a major production)Hi Kwik and fur babies
I was just thinking of you and Timmy, I wonder if there is any transdermal gabapentin? Or something similar to relax him enough to get him to the appointment? If there isn't,there should be.
I find it much easier to apply something to the ear than administering pills, especially with ferals or former ferals.
Too bad he chew's everything so thoroughly because they have those flavored empty capsules that you can hide the pull in.
Does he like the Delectable Stews by any chance?
