Timmy is in the carrier- he was drowsy on the patio chair from the gabapentin ( probably got only around 50mg)so I brought the carrier out on the table and just picked him up snd put him in it.... had I known it'd be so easy I'd have waited another hour - it's going to be a long hour forty five minutes becayse hea alreasy getting rambunctious
Oh good, at least he did not struggle to get in. Hope he'll be calm at the vet.

He's freaking out unless I keep my finger petting his face- I'm so afraid he's going to bust the door open .... My hand can't take much more of the fingers through the cage door

Time to go cannot get here fast enough..

How long before you leave?
I was already gone when you asked- left at 7:45
I basically paid $225.00 today for taking Timmy for a car ride

Appt was at 8:15- which was originally Tues the 7th but they called to tell me Monday the 6th like 2wks ago..... I get there and they tell me appt is tomorrow and the nasty girl that confirmed on Friday to say" well, are you coming Monday or not" was at reception..... she did apologize after I politely told her how rude she was and for confirming today if it weren't so????

Anyway, the Opthamologist I was supposed to see was in surgery so we saw another, they took Timmy in the back and came out rather quickly with him in his carrier----"can't get near the carrier ,he's lunging viciously" they said -as I proceeded to open the door to pet my frightened baby!

So with me petting him she could at least SEE his eye and they wanted ridiculous amounts of money to anesthesia him to do a proper exam ( which I already had this conversation with the brave know it all on the phone prior to making appt)

Anyway thd Dr ,who is very good and very nice(I saw her last yr for Max) and obviously doesn't trust her techs suggested I see my Vet and wrote down the tests she recommended which would be much less expensive thst way

So it " could be" a host of things that I already knew it " could be" but the most practical is to rule out certain things with extensive blood work, urinalysis etc etc and if it's uveitis( good possibility ) then why( why is their inflammation- blood can help that) ......can he be treated with steroids ,if not knowing why treatment can do further damage

So as I said,I paid and put Timmy through stress for nothing and cost me plenty - Dr said " I'm going to talk to tye Mgr because I can't possibly charge you for a full exam,it's like a half of a consult "

Oh great, right? NOPE,Mgr said no...... I'm $225 worth of livid!

Now to track down my Vet.... they all know my Vet and worse case scenario he may have to lose the eye which the Dr said not all Vets could or should but your Vet certainly can do what is best for Timmy

Oh, what an ordeal So sorry all that happened, and that you don't know much more than you did before the $225 mini appointment. Hopefully your vet will have a plan as to how to proceed. Hugs to you and Timmy. :hugs:

This confirms what we were concerned about Kwik Kwik . They should not charge for a full price exam if Timmy did not get a full exam. In my opinion taking him in the back is also a mistake. I think they believe they can do a better exam without ' interference ' of the owner. Some cats are just better when they can have their eyes on us.I would be very upset as well. Many more hugs to you and I am sorry your visit went this way.

I had a good cry so I'm getting it together again now- I got a msg sent to my Doc so he'll call when he sees it.....I don't think he'll be in Boca this month but probably DelRay or Boynton Beach- I'll do whatever he suggest because I love my little Timmy so much- if I had monies like I used to I'd have even left Timmy there today ,I just don't have it to spend on greedy corporate facilities.....or believe me,I wouldn't even care

Oh well,not a good day....

Oh kwik, I am so sorry.. for you and for Timmy.. This behavior is completely unacceptable! Iw Ould be furious.. and I would cry and then let my anger out ... Little comfort to you, but... (((hugs)))). I wish I could be there for both of you.. And a letter of complaint needs to be written about the horrid receptionist and the treatment you received..

I am glad you have your own vet.. at least they know you and Timmy.. I hope you can be seen very soon and do not have to wait for an appointment. (((hugs))))

There's no sense in a letter- I said what I had to say to the Mgr who outright said " No"--I shouldve handed them half and daid " sue me "-thats when they should've made things right and didn't .... who to write to?

Iz.... I need a decent rest- Timmy has been sound asleep on the cat condo out in the patio since we came home and I petted him to sleep, they're all out there ..

He was actually a little sweet angel in the car ,going and coming- covered he was scared- I faced him towards me uncovered with my fingers touching his face and he was very quiet, very still and just looking at me very alert.....

Well you are very very good with him. You love him and he loves you back. He trust you but I don't think it is unusual that he was frightened. Hopefully you both will get rest then you will see what else you can do.

So my Vet just called and he was shocked by the whole story ..... he is going to read the Opthamologist notes later today( I had them sent to one of the places he goes to) and then he'll see what we will do---- he said we'll try not to stress Timmy and perhaps he might prescribe and I can TRY to apply---- let's not jump ahead too far at this point until he reads recommendations

He also told me to leave a msg for the Specialist I was supposed tocsee ( my Vet refers many patients to)tell him the story- he's supposedly the boss?

I'll leave a msg at least- my Vet said the Mgr may call back but try....

I do feel better having spoke to my Doc

I am glad you feel better after speaking to your vet. Comforting to hear he was shocked at what occurred.I would try a leave a message for the specialist as your vet recommended. While many would understand people not wanting to be injured by any animal they should also be better trained to work with scared and difficult patients.Let's see what is recommended ❤❤

I saw Timmy was having troubles in the Wordle thread, so I came here to see what was going on. Sorry your boy is going through a rough time and you had trouble with the specialist. I hope you're able to get fairly inexpensive answers soon!

I am so sorry you and Timmy had to go through this rigamarole this morning and end up with no solution to his eye issue.

I can't believe the attitude of the receptionist and Mgr, I also think you should be refunded some monies since his visit wasn't performed as scheduled.

Yes, I agree with your Vet about calling and/or writing up what you went through. Actually, I would call and then f/u with a written letter-- naming names. If your Vet sends many patients to this practice and particular Ophthalmologist, then he should be aware of what has occurred.

Again, I would send a letter, regarding this incident to the Vet in charge of the practice. The 'manager' really means nothing. Her boss needs to be aware of this..

By all means, please nap, rest... along with sweet Timmy.. both of you have been through a terrible ordeal today.. I also hope your Vet contacts the Specialist and tells him what transpired.

((((HUGS)))))

I'm so sorry that such things happens at the vet and the stress Timmy has to go through. I know it's no fun for both of you.

I hope that the right authority get o the bottom of this as it is not professional for them to handle cases like this.

Sending hugs to you and Timmy
