Kwik Kwik You have a good point there and Timmy is use to those trees. I looked for items made of palm trees and nothing but one the were made to look like a palm tree.😂I don't know if you could find something locally made. Maybe if you know or could find someone that could build something to what you want that would be a better option if it could be done at a price not out of this world. If he is not a vertical scratcher maybe you cound find a solid enough section of a fallen palm for him to use

He was definitely a vertical scratcher outside on those Palms- now he's a horizontal, vertical and even kinda diagonal lol - seems he was really searching for something to satisfy his need prior to having his nails trimmed- hes not scratching at all right now, even the leather couch that was his favorite!

I'd like to find a high and big enough tree stump but I'm in a Condo, lol. I guess the problem with ' dead'' wood is that it dries out unless treated- probably why they don't sell natural wood scratch stumps, right?

Next time I'm at my friends property ( horse ranch)I'll have to scout around and see what I can find- worth a try
Gypsys favorite outside scratchers are all dead wood😺

I like the idea of sand paper in the litter box! I'd like to give that a try ,if Timmy liked it it would really work well

Do you have a link for me by any chance?Im pretty lame on Googling
I wonder if doubleface tapeing a piece of sandpaper in a new litter box would work although it might harm their toesies if they aren't using their nails.

I do not know why it took me this long to think of this, but...I KNOW that there are arborists EVERYWHERE, even in Florida. You might call a few and let them know what you need, what size, and offer to buy a limb that they trimmed off from them for a reasonable price. It is certainly worth a phone call or two.

Me too, just not thinking- I have a pseudo nephew who owns a " tree trimming" service - it only dawned on me yesterday watching some idiot messing up a tree

I have to get his number from my dear friend( it's her nephew ) no doubt he can get me what I'm looking for- they remove palms alot, especially the huge leaning ones

2 years ago we had a tree cut down in the yard and I asked the arborist if he would put a nice log in the screened patio for my cat's.He told me to go pick one out. It sat out there for 1 year and not one of the cat's showed any interest in it.Now I know when they were outside they scratched on that same tree hundreds of times 😂
It was so heavy I had to pay someone to remove it for me when I finally gave up on that idea.Cats!!!!😊. gotta love um.

Exactly why I won't spend $100.to TRY something bought- I just spent that on a new Condo to replace the old one- bought the exact same replacement hey absolutely loved- nope, not interested! :sigh:

Knowing CATS,you just NEVER know!!!Had 2 hammocks in front windows they LOVED- added sill perches and moved the hammocks up a bit -nope,no more hammocks

Well,,in time they can decide " ooh, that looks like a good place to hang out" who knows? I spent alot of money on building a cat room with a wall full of shelves which everyone enjoys only if I'm in the room- thst was not the idea🤣the idea was for them to have MORE space- I was in there yesterday and everyone was on the floor under my pedals with Max on the handle bars as I'm on the stationary bike- uhhhhhh

I posted a message a few days ago about finding cat nail file scratchers on Amazon and I was out of town when Kwik asked if I could provide a link. Sorry for the delay, but here are a few that I found. As mentioned before, the reviews are not great, but it is an interesting idea and apparently works for some people.

Oh boy, thanks so much- love it,gonna order these and try them out on one favorite litter box! What a great idea,I like that it's a material that supposedly doesn't retain odor or moisture- Let's see how it goes for scooping etc...and what sticks to it,lol For $20 it's certainly worth checking out

Ordered them - the big one and the set with 3 pair for sides.....Walmart.com had them so that's easy for me ( I have much trouble with my card for online on Amazon - probably because it's not an American bank?
