Mia, It is a symbol in written music or maths operations. Perhaps its meaning as "meticulous" is not very usual. Think of meticulous in the sense of "precise", "punctual" and so on. It is also part of a well known three word phrase.

I'm with Mia6, I cannot for the life of me figure this one out! :disappointed:
There is a 3 word expression* which means "to be punctual" or "at exactly the arranged time" which uses this word. I don't think it is particularly British. In the other two cases "Music" (staccato) and "Math"(decimal point) it is a symbol used in the written pages.

*on the ---"

C'mon put your thinking cap on, it is a very easy one.

M mia , Mia, PushPurrCatPaws, I think a synonym of the word in question is "point" I honestly cannot think of another clue. It seems to me I have already given away the reply unless the word in question is only used in England.
