Aedan's really getting an attitude! He was opening the door and wanting to go outside with daddy, who was messing with his motorcycle. I told him no, he said, "yes!" Repeat, with more attitude each time. I said, "you're about to get in trouble, young man." He said, "no, I'm no-ot." Lord give me patience.
In other news, Connor ripped a claw off. The idiot was reaching up to hit the screen door latch - my cats listen about as well as my kids - and he got a claw caught in the door frame. I went to try to help him, but he wouldn't stop struggling and pulling at it, and he got loose - leaving the claw behind. I got scratched for my trouble. And he's been either too upset or embarrassed to let me look at his paw. The claw fell out of the door as I tried to grab it and I lost it. I'm not sure if it was the whole claw or just the outside where it was already shedding. He's not bleeding or limping. I'll try to get a look at it later when he's calmed down.

Alicia88 Alicia88 , if Connor isn't bleeding I'm pretty sure he must have lost just the dead sheath of the claw. Cats tend to bleed profusely if you accidentally cut into the quick when you're clipping their claws; pulling a claw out by the root must be much worse.

Remember, declawing isn't just removing their "nails"; it's amputating the ends of their "fingers."

That's what I figured, but he still won't let me take a look at his paw. I think all he really hurt was his pride, but that's very damaging to a cat.
Temporarily damaging. He'll have forgotten it by tomorrow. For now, you should probably stop trying to look at it; don't make it seem worse than it is.

I Meant to do That

Did you ask them for the correct number to call?

Margret
The number on the Postal thing Willowy referred to is the same one that the main post office told me was correct and the phone is disconnected. It's been their phone number for 45 years until the lockdown last year started, then all of a sudden they disconnected their phone. So I don't know what the next step is but I now am 100% denied the SSA that I paid into for 25 years as a result of the post office not delivering the mail to us as I did not get the documents needed to sign. I don't know who else to go to and complain about it unless I do the local news like they covered the one area of St Louis 2 months ago for same thing. But those are the wealthy who complain about everything (haha I can say that as I have/had) some wealthy relatives living in California who felt entitled to everything. I understand what Willowy is saying but there has to be some way of getting this mail. And SSA offices are closed here in St Louis at least because of the pandemic. Every minute I spend calling around trying to resolve this I lose $15 of doing surveys that I'll obviously have to continue doing til I'm 100 years old to survive.

With that said last night I had a very odd dream. Not to get religious or anything but it does reflect a lot of my beliefs in waking life. I was in a gathering of people who believe in reincarnation. We were discussing our feelings about life, death, and reincarnating. Again yes I believe in reincarnation. I said in the dream my truest feelings in waking life "I'm not scared of dying. In fact I'll be throwing a party once I leave this nuthouse. It's the coming back that terrifies me. What kind of world will I come back to. What kind of person will I be? Will I be good or will I be a horrible person that will commit unspeakable crimes and think nothing of it?" I'm not sure why I'm all of a sudden having this kind of dream. Again yes I have believed in reincarnation since I was in the Hare Krishna temple 30 years ago and have pondered this thought many times especially since I'm an ID addict and the news and I guess the above mentioned pandemic. I don't know. Again not to get religious but another thought is "Does the grim reaper really escort us out of this life or does he bring us back to another life, while we kick, scream and protest no no no". Sorry just some random thoughts and I'll most likely get a slap for mentioning this.

The local news might actually help. I know the I team for our local ABC has managed to get things changed for some people to by calling around and sticking their nose in. Might be worth a shot to call one and say how the mail's not being delivered and the number is disconnected?

Thank you. I just didn't want to get our regular mail carrier in trouble because she's been so reliable. It's obvious she's either pulled off route and either in our local post office or downtown. She's not in the best of health and she makes it every single day she's on the route (for 35 years) and on time. Why a young whipper snapper that lifts weights (as I heard one talking about on the phone) can't deliver with that same gusto is beyond me. Danielle has filled in for others before and bad health and all she made sure that her route and the route she filled in on were both on schedule. I don't get it but I think I will call the local news and let them know. Oh and the check that Mom is supposed to get is still not here. So someone obviously stole it. They are not very smart to scan the items for informed delivery and then not deliver.

Just called all 3 local news stations. Let's see how concerned they are or if they're stuck on news about meteors. haha

I can't even get answers on how to have mail sent to a UPS box or do they still do that? No one answers me (not on here) so I don't know. Is it something about my name that people say "Oh we're not going to help her or answer her."? Ugh So with that said, since USPS (in my area) is worthless, how do I go about setting up for mail to be delivered to my UPS. I have never had an issue with our local UPS. Please help me. Thank you.

If the local UPS store has a mailbox section (not all of them do), you go to the store and rent a box, then call/email everyone who sends you mail and have your address changed to the address they assign to you. You can do an official change of address online at usps.com (but they run your card for something like a dollar, to make sure you are who you say you are) or at the Post Office, but you still want to change the mailing address at the source as soon as possible.

Another inspection today. They've been getting more nit picky and wanting to look in every room so poor Mickey is spending the night with Na-Maw.

When John rescued him 5 years ago, he was immediately social and ready to explore. Maybe because he was still part kitten? I dunno. But when we have to hide him with someone, he hides the whole time. I hate having to send him away, but getting caught with him would be worse.

I really just want to say' "we've had 3 cats for the entire 3 years that we've lived here and you've never caught on. So is it really hurting anything?" But I know I can't.

Have a vaccine appointment for Sunday... luckily had a tip from someone who volunteers with the counties health department vaccine line that even if you haven't received a message from them you can schedule appointments through the county sites if you call in the next five days and they will get you an appointment. Requested only drive thru, if they had availability. They did! So Sunday is the day. Send me good vibes, please. Mixed emotions though and scared my family will throw all caution to the wind when they hear, but getting the shot won't cure my anxiety of being exposed right away.

My friend is coming next week to take my car for an emissions test and getting a sticker for me. He asked if I'd like him to take care of it when he heard I hadn't done it. I accepted and and am thankful for the offer.

Thank you. I'll call and make an appointment. The ones near me require an appointment. Darn pandemic makes extra steps for everyone.

I took my grandma to get her second shot yesterday. They've opened it up for everyone here, so John and I are going to schedule ours. I think we're going to stagger them and not get them at the same time. I've heard a lot of people say the second shot laid them out for a few days and we can't both be sick with 2 small children to care for. It would just be too much.

W WillowMarie , do you know which vaccine you're getting?

On both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines you should be at about 80% immunity 2 weeks after receiving the first shot (not, please note, immediately). Your second shot should be 3 weeks after your first, for Pfizer, and 4 weeks for Moderna. You should reach greater than 90% immunity 2 weeks after that.

Drinking lots of water may help with side effects, as can NSAIDs. Don't take the NSAIDs before your shot, though, only when the side effects start after the shot.

One potential side effect is diarrhea; you may want to buy a box of Imodium AD (or equivalent) before you get the second shot. Do read the precautions on the package, please. Taking too much Imodium AD in a day can be dangerous.
